#279992 Mario Kart 8 Devs Praise Wii U Power - Show Off Visual Stunner

You can't even compare both versions of tracks. It's like night and day.

#271288 Truth to Nintendo Fusion?

Posted by Lebon14 on 09 February 2014 - 07:26 AM in Wii U Hardware

Didn't Iwata say that they would still release two consoles: one portable and one living room console? They did. What they said is that they wanted to build them with similar achitectures to create an ecosystem similar to Android and iOS. There were no plans to make a two-in-one console here...

...I feel I'm missing the point of this thread.

#271099 DKCTF Canada's Banana Mania Contest

Participated while saying "Here goes nothing!"

Also, for once, Quebecese residents are allowed to participate.

#270031 Mario3d world to adult?

Posted by Lebon14 on 02 February 2014 - 06:56 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm 26 and I loooooooooooooove Super Mario 3D World.

For Knack, I never tried it because I have no PS4 and I don't plan to have one. But one thing's sure, I think the reviews are mitigated on this one...

Also, the links in "Power" section aren't linked at all.

I legit laughed at this.

500 000 to 600 000. In NA only, I mean.

#260425 Emily Rogers: Nintendo’s Obsession With Finding One Game That Can Sell Consoles

Posted by Lebon14 on 11 December 2013 - 12:14 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm still positive that WiiU sales will pick up but... Iwata said Pikmin 3 would save it. Result: No. The Wonderful 101? No. Wind Waker HD? No. Super Mario 3D World? Doesn't look like it. Does ONE game can save a console? No.

#258543 Download WiiU updates offline from computer

Posted by Lebon14 on 02 December 2013 - 03:24 AM in Wii U Games and Software Help

No, you need to use the wii u or a game disc.

This, unfortunately.

It could be way much shorter to update if you could download through your computer AND be able to update somebody's WiiU without Wifi around.

#258485 Help pls: HDD acting strangely

Posted by Lebon14 on 01 December 2013 - 02:39 PM in Wii U Hardware

just over a 180

You could have had a 3TB hard drive for that price... was it really worth it? Not doubting your decision but, imo, you could have made a better deal. Exemple : This+this = 79$ (86$ max). ~2x the space.

However, I'm pretty sure you have a reason for spending that much on that. Might be... gaming conditions (i.e. No extra power outlet available, etc)?

Anyway. I hope your memory stick lasts for the price you paid, otherwise it'll suck hard.

#258442 Help pls: HDD acting strangely

Posted by Lebon14 on 01 December 2013 - 08:31 AM in Wii U Hardware

Just bought a simple 256gb memorystick. And it works judt brilliantly.

256GB memory stick?! Wait, what? You paid ~300$ for a memory stick? Really?!

#258342 Help pls: HDD acting strangely

Posted by Lebon14 on 30 November 2013 - 04:14 AM in Wii U Hardware

It won't make things worse... Beside destroying data on disk, it reallocates suspicious sectors. I revived literally tens of hard disks reported as bad and they still work, after years from repairing. Some of them are in NAS systems, under a heavy use, and still work without error.

Anyway, it might be another problem... a problematic USB cable is another thing which appear very often; same as a problematic power source.

Yes, it's dangerous to use low-level format, especially on recent HDDs. Read this. A normal format should do the trick (zero-fill only) for the formatting process. If repairs are needed, Windows' chkdsk (with command "chkdsk c: /f /r") does the trick.

Even more reading: http://www.pcguide.c...tilities-c.html

But I believe that you are mixing up between zero-filling (standard long format) and hard drive and the actual "low-level" format.

#257935 Help pls: HDD acting strangely

Posted by Lebon14 on 26 November 2013 - 12:14 AM in Wii U Hardware

External

You misunderstood; we know you have an external hard drive. What is the hard drive's electric source? The power outlet or the WiiU's USB port? If it's the WiiU's USB port, it is said that the WiiU's USB ports does not give enough electric power to sustain an hard drive. So, you have to plug it in the power outlet.

#257871 Help pls: HDD acting strangely

Posted by Lebon14 on 25 November 2013 - 10:31 AM in Wii U Hardware

Try to reformat the disk on your pc/mac using a low level format utility; also check the surface of the disk - there are many programs for physical checking for bad sectors. Then connect it to the Wii U again and try once more.

No! For god's sake, no! A normal full format is well enough. Doing a low level format will make things worse, it'll reduce the lifetime of the hard drive. Formatting in NTFS then doing a chkdsk is perfectly fine and will help troubleshoot.

#256862 Seeing the forum in text-only. (screenshot included)

Posted by Lebon14 on 18 November 2013 - 02:03 PM in Site News and Feedback

feld0 let the image hosting server go down on us without telling us.
If you see any images at all, it's from your cache.

Image server is down? WTH. Why the hell would you host your images elsewhere than the forum server?!

Anyway, I'm glad I'm not the only one. The only images left are those from sig (not related to the site) and the badges for some reason.

I hope the fix is coming soon; that's kind of annoying to read the forum like this.

I'm not even sure if this text box is the box I write the post in; that gives you an idea. Since today, the website is showing in text only mode. All fonction are there but in basic HTML and javascript. There's no graphics, no fancy feature, no nothing. I tried clearing my cache. No go. Deleting cookies from the forum? Nope. Try in another browser? Same issue. Another computer? Nope, Chuck Testa. Disabling AdBlock Plus and Ghostery? Nope. It seems that the CSS is missing or something. Anyway screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/ySwkoeZ.png Anybody else?

#256552 Anything needed to know before purchasing a Wii U?

Posted by Lebon14 on 16 November 2013 - 09:28 PM in Wii U Hardware Help

So to do a system transfer, would I still need my Wii?

Yes, you still need your Wii for this. I believe Nintendo gives some kind of instruction with the WiiU on how to do a system transfer. Also, you'll need an SD card (2GB or less - the Wii isn't compatible with higher capacities) to transfer some data between both consoles.

BS Overload. Seriously. Wii Party U has propelled the WiiU the week it was released in Japan. Once the big guns are out, everything will follow.

#255432 firmware update bigger than 8 GB in future

Posted by Lebon14 on 10 November 2013 - 09:57 AM in Wii U Hardware

No modern OS uses more than 8GB of space. Don't expect it to change much on Nintendo's side.

Although Windows 7 (not sure about Win8) install DVD is single layer, once installed, weights about ~28 GB (64-bit)...

#255220 New Club Nintendo Survey

Posted by Lebon14 on 09 November 2013 - 01:15 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Got it too. I voted for online play although I don't play it very much. I voted for it because I know it will help Nintendo in the long run.

...I really want an online Mario Party. Seriously.

#255217 Nintendo Studios With Unannounced Games

Posted by Lebon14 on 09 November 2013 - 12:58 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Sport games are a regional thing. Here in Canada, it's mostly hockey and american football. In the US, it's more american football and baseball. Japan is probably just baseball. South America and most of Europe is soccer/football. I can Russia liking hockey games too.

Also, everyone their favorite. If you like soccer/football, you'll play that. Etc.

On thread, Colinx pretty much summed it up. However, you forgot about Camelot. I think they pretty much are on Nintendo sports game when they need to be done. I'm thinking Mario Gold 3DS at the moment. When they don't have anything, I hope it'll happen someday because they have a small team, they work on the new Golden Sun. There's a 7-years gap between Lost Age and Dark Dawn. So... 2017 is pretty much when I'll start to believe in a long awaited sequel. Tbh, DD was a let down simply because of its various gameplay flaws (i.e. Points of no returns; even after-game).

I'm blaberring at this point.
