What happens if the PS4 and 720 are only 2-4x more powerful than Wii U?

Specs sell consoles, 99% of the 360/PS3 playing crowd gamers don't actually know or tell the difference but if their console has a higher number than the other, it's "obviously" better.

Nintendo have made a very fine tuned machine, that is designed to play HD games at pinpoint accuracy and on two screens. Developers given time will use these tunings to their advantage and make games that rival PS4 and Nextbox graphics. Remember when Resident Evil 4 came out? People were blown away by that.

what?? no.. i bought ps3 because of games... if specs were the main thing, i would upgrade my pc instead.. but i didn't..
urhhh.. potatoes?

I guess you're part of the 1%

A LOT of people just go "Xbox has better graphics" even though there are only marjonal differences or "ps3 has x, y and z in the specs which make it better" but very little actually think about what those things. To some extent the blu-ray and free online subscription sold me on the PS3

I either choose a console based on games (exclusives) I want, what I can do with the console, and quality/brand loyalty. For example I got a cube because of the Resident Evil remake, but got a Playstation 2 because of the brand and the games library, I got a Wii because it blew me away as far as function (even though before it was announced I swore I'd never get another nintendo console again, cause of the cube), and I got a PS3 because it felt like a high quality machine + blu-ray oh and again brand loyalty.

I'm tempted by the Wii U because of the new controller, but this time I need to know that it's next gen ready as I already have an HD gaming console with a vast games library, I need to know in 2 or 3 years time that any advanced games will be portable, I don't care if the graphics are downgraded, so long as It can handle downscaled ports.

It's also true that certain age-groups depend on their parents for the console, and usually their wallets veer toward the Nintendo consoles

I may exaggerate a bit, but there are a lot of thickle people out there.

The only reason I want to know the specs for the Wii U is I want to stick to one console this generation, when the financial crisis hit I've found my ability to buy more than one console down to zero. If I can buy downscaled versions of next gen games on the Wii U i'll be happy to play less pretty HD games, so long as the tablet controller adds an extra level of interaction and fun. Like Zombi U. The graphics aren't too great for a HD game in 2012, but the gameplay is awesome. If we get ports of Unreal 4 games downscaled to minimum spec, I'd rather go with Nintendo than any other console, especially when I have a PS3 for blu-ray playback.

I'm sure that even with a 3-core or 4-core processor the Wii U can expand it what it can do, like AR specs, Cloud gaming etc. So I'm sure it could replicate anything Microsoft or Sony have in the future, I just hope the GPU is enough to get ports of next-gen titles.

Your looking at it from the casual side, hardcore gamers like specs.

This isnt true at all,the Wii outsold the almighty super powerful PS3 and the 360, The 3DS is outselling the Vita. The Mom and Dad who are out Christmas shopping for their kid arent gonna say "Please sell me the console that has the most CPU power and the highest graphics card" they are gonna see the Wii U and see Mario and they buy it. If you people want super powerful graphics go build yourself a gaming computer...

Theres a fine line between "hardcore" gamers and hardcore gamers.... you can be a hardcore gamer who plays Pac-man, that guy doesnt care about specs

Are you serious....I never said all of them care about graphics you should know what I mean. Somebody who plays games like Pacman is a retro gamer.
