#218861 [WUB] Playstation 4 and XBox One Prices

Posted by Wii U News on 10 June 2013 - 07:59 PM

XBox 1

The competition for the Nintendo Wii U, the PlayStation 4 and XBox One, have had their prices revealed in their company conferences. Sony’s PlayStation 4 will launch at $399 in autumn 2013 while Microsoft’s Xbox One will be sold $499, with no release date given. Nintendo’s Wii U currently sells for $299 for the basic and $349 for the deluxe. The Wii U clearly will be selling as the cheapest console.

Also, Sony will not be imposing any fee on pre-used games nor does the PlayStation 4 have to be connected to the internet.

However, many fan favourite series have revealed games for the PlayStation 4 and XBox One, including Kingdom Hearts 3, Metal Gear Solid V, and Final Fantasy XV. At this point, it appears any console could have the upper hand by the end of E3.

#212288 [WUB] Sonic: Lost Worlds Debut Trailer

Posted by Wii U News on 28 May 2013 - 09:53 AM

For my 21st birthday, we have all received a gift, the debut trailer for Sonic: Lost Worlds.

The environment for the game seems to be Super Mario Galaxy -esque, but to be brutally honest, the graphics for the environment seem really out of place. It appears they’ve used old-school graphics for a new game, which seems very odd. The deadly six have also been revealed, and they seem odd, but hopefully they will be implemented correctly, however that may be.

#208153 [WUB] New Pikmin 3 Details from Nintendo Direct

Posted by Wii U News on 17 May 2013 - 12:16 PM

Pikmin 3 A

A lot of new Pikmin 3 details were shown during  Nintendo Direct today, such as the European release date, character information, and new gameplay mechanics, and you can read up on all of the new details after the break:

First off, we have confirmation that Pikmin 3 will be released on July 26th in Europe, before the Americas will receive the game. I’m calling luck hacks.

Three new characters to the Pikmin world were revealed as well, as you can see above, and their mission is to gather fruit seeds to save their planet called Planet Koppai. Of course, they need the help of the wonderful Pikmin to do this. Like Pikmin 2, all captains can be used to multi-task, but if you mess up while multi-tasking, you can replay the day and restart from any point that you’d like.

Both the GamePad or Wii U Pro Controller can be used to play the game, and by using the GamePad, you can play the game using off-screen play. However, Iwata also said that using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck will be the most intuitive and comfortable control scheme to use.

Iwata finally mentioned that more information on Challenge Mode and multiplayer would be discussed in the next Nintendo direct.

#206714 [WUB] New Trailer for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Posted by Wii U News on 13 May 2013 - 03:25 PM

We’ve got a new trailer for you for Ubisofts newest game in the Assassin’s Creed universe, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. A few notable pirates are mentioned in the trailer, including Benjamin Hornigold, Blackbeard, and “Calico Jack” Rackham.

This game takes a lot from history, so you can likely expect other famous pirates of the era to be included in the game as well. I’m just hoping that a lot of historical points are accurate in-game.

#206210 [WUB] Four New Pokemon and X/Y Information Leaked from CoroCoro

Posted by Wii U News on 11 May 2013 - 06:34 PM

Pokemon 3

More Pokemon information for the sixth generation of Pokemon was leaked early this morning, and my good friend Serebii of Serebii.net has translated some of the pages from the newest issue of the CoroCoro magainze. Some of the stuff revealed is the ability to edit your character skin shading and hair colour, a few new Pokemon and Pokemon you can ride, and a bit more information on the new region for Pokemon X and Y for the Nintendo 3DS.

Because this information also pertains to the broad sixth generation and because Pokemon is an awesome series (Crobat rocks), I decided to post some information on this on the Wii U Blog. Sue me.

There is quite a bit to read and look at, so you can check it all out after the break:

SOURCE: Serebii.net with  special thanks to Gin for translation

Translation:

First, the Pokémon on the far right is called Gogoat (ゴーゴート literally Gohgohto) and is the Riding Pokémon. It’s Grass-type, 1.7m and 91.0kg. You can actually ride this Pokémon in the field. It can learn Horn Leech
The lizard is called Elikiteru (エリキテル) and is a Electric/Normal-type. It is the Generation Pokémon and is 0.5m and 6.0kg. It has a new move called Parabola Charge which heals the user while damaging opponents. It uses solar rays to generate electricity
The bird is called Yayakoma (ヤヤコマ) and is the Japanese Robin Pokémon. It is Normal/Flying, 0.3m and 1.7kg. It announces itself with a beautiful voice. It can use the move Flame Charge
The panda is called Yancham ( ヤンチャム) and is the Naughty Pokémon. It is Fighting-type, 0.6m and 8.0kg. It has a new move called Parting Remark which lowers the opponents stats and causes the user to switch out
There appears to be more including the game’s boxarts, and the Pokédex, as well as the region map but it’s not completely visible. We’ll bring more as it comes so be sure to keep checking. It also promises more information on Gogoat on a later page.
The game is set in the Karos Region which appears to be based on France. You can customise your trainer slightly with hair colour and skin shade. Main city is Miare City which is where it is seen to ride Gogoat.

#205278 [WUB] Rumor: EA Finished with the Wii U?

Posted by Wii U News on 08 May 2013 - 03:28 PM

Electronic Arts Logo EA

I’d like to say I find it quite painful to write articles on Electronic Arts, whether is be as consultant to YouTube news writers or for the Wii U Blog. It’s almost unheard of for good news to come out of EA, but especially for Nintendo. In the continuation of EA/Nintendo drama, we received some insight on the future of EA’s gaming business model in their latest investor call, which some speculate to be completely anti-Wii U.

You can read more about the latest Electronic Arts investor call after the break:

Electronic Arts was quoted in their latest investor call saying:

Regarding next generation consoles, we are under a non-disclosure agreement with our platform partners, however, we’re planning a full reveal at E3 including more next generation titles in development for FY14. This will include breakthroughs in graphics and gameplay for some of our biggest franchises including Battlefield, FIFA, Madden, NBA LIVE, and Need for Speed. We plan to unveil new titles from EA SPORTS, Bioware, and DICE and a first look at  some brand new games.

Furthermore, according to PSLifestyle, EA has also said they’ve eliminated expenses in next-gen R&D by ignoring platforms they feel do not have any long-term potential. As stated by Wii U Daily, a tweet from an EA employee yesterday makes future Wii U support from the company seem grim:

Do you have any thoughts for EA in regards to their lack of support for Nintendo?
