#112589 Nintendo 3DSPhone

Posted by Arkhandar on 25 September 2012 - 05:55 AM

Hi guys! :)

I was having a walk the other day with my 3DS XL in one pocket and a phone in another, as I usually do. So it came up to me the idea of a Nintendo Phone, since carrying the two objects everyday can be a pain in the arse.

I wanted it to be big and have big screens like my XL and I also wanted it to have all the 3DS features (like camera, music, apps) and I also wanted it to run 3DS games.

Think of it as a 3DS plus a Phone. So, here it is, the 3DSPhone:

Posted Image

Tech specs:
  • Top Screen: 5 inch 3D 800x480 px display (1600x480px in 3D mode)
  • Bottom Screen: 320x240px screen
  • Front Camera: 1.3 MP camera
  • Bottom Camera: 2 MP
  • Dual core CPU (to power extra phone capabilities)
  • Dual core GPU (to power the 4x screen resolution)
  • 512MB RAM (to power extra phone and OS capabilities)
  • OS: Miiverse

So, what do you guys think of it? Would you own one alongside or instead of your regular 3DS?

Oh God, don't get me started on the uninformed PS3 and Xbox 360 fans and fanboys and their vision of the next gen being 4K when finally single PC graphics cards are able to run games at 2560X1600 at acceptable frame rates.

To them PS3 and 360 can do 4K with no sweat, unlike the "next Wii" of course.

If you want a sneak peak what the true power of the Wii U just take a look of the best two tech demos on E3 2011.

Those were completely beautiful and they couldn't even be replicated on current gen platforms. And remember that they ran on early/prototype hardware and were still able to achieve that. The amount of things happening on the screen at the same time is simply amazing.

For those of you who didn't get a chance to see them, take a look:

Can't wait to see if it's confirmed or not. I really hope that they customised it further to provide a better performance in sacrifce of 6 way streaming.

If this is the Wii U GPU, then yes. They certainly did.

Look at the 360 launch lineup. Not one of them looks even remotely close to Skyrim. I love how most people assume 100% of the power is being used at the beginning of the console's life.

Exactly! It's good to know that I'm not alone :D

And thank God we won't have another Wii situation with multiplats. We might as well get ourselves m any more [timed or not] exclusive next gen games like Bayonetta 2 until the other consoles show up.

#110908 Warriors Orochi dev on Wii U: CPU is weak GPU stronger than ps360

Posted by Arkhandar on 21 September 2012 - 05:34 AM

Well, this sure sounds familiar...

Eurogamer just isn't a reliable source anymore. All they want is more traffic on their website.

Even if the CPU is weaker like they're reporting, I simply can't believe it until I ear it from some other website other then them. Period

"Delivering 576 GFLOPs of peak single precision floating point performance, the AMD Radeon™ E6760 GPU is ideal for general purpose, graphics processing unit (GPGPU)" - Spec Sheet

The E6760 is a GPGPU... which means that this is yet more proof that this chip is the one inside Wii U.

And the good news is that it's roughly 3x more powerful than PS360. Not a full generation leap, but we were all expecting this.

I really think the wii u performance is lower than people are expecting. The power consumption peak figure of 75W is very low with an average of 42W. That puts it below 360 and PS3 however I realise it has no  hard drive power demands. The graphics on show at nintendo direct were quite clear and looked current gen or much less in places apart from Trine that looked beautiful but was only a 2D scrolling game and not something that would push the hardware.

I don't think the next Xbox or playstation are going to be as impressive as many hoped but we don't know yet as the final hardware is so far away but I'm sure they will comfortably outperform the wii u by a huge margin.

I think price will be a factor for me. I wouldn't pay £250 for the basic console package but would for the premium package. However I'm likely to change my mind as we get closer to launch but at the moment the videos of the games and Nintendo's refusal to release any real technical information about the gpu/cpu has me thinking I'd rather wait and see what happens.

It would be quite easy to create a video of the best ps3 or 360 games that makes the wii u look very dated from what is shown so far. Not for 2D graphics though which look great on wii u but for actual 3D type games.

At this point I'm not even convinced the wii u could deliver ambitious games like Skyrim.

#22123 Animal Crossing Wii U

Posted by Arkhandar on 16 August 2011 - 02:54 PM

Hopefully with the Wii U's better online system, Animal crossing will be a great online game for the Wii U. I dont think it will launch soon because there is already an animal crossing game coming out for the 3ds. :(

Massively Online Single-player FTW!! xD

I think the Wii U Zelda tech demo really shows the perfect style for the franchise.
