#231003 Thinking about selling my Wii U guys...

Posted by IvyT on 12 July 2013 - 05:04 AM in Wii U Games and Software

No man just keep the WiiU. When you sell it you and those games you really want start getting closer and closer to their release dates you will be itching to sell that Playstation for a WiiU. I don't sell my games anymore because when I was younger I used to sell a lot and noticed I always bought them again not too far in the future because I missed them. Just stick it out and wait for Smash and Mario Kart, you most likely will not be disappointed and it will feel great having your hands on the game after waiting so long. Plus remember we have Super Mario 3D World coming out in a few months and Pikmin out next month. Oh and Wind Waker. I am sure these games can hold you over and once you start getting new and great games it will cure that need to get another system quick. I know exactly how you feel I have been like that many times but after I just held onto everything I have it helps. I started making collections for my systems instead of selling to get new games I was dying for. And that is a real satisfying feeling. So just hold out dude, you won't regret it.

I've definitely regretted selling many games when I was younger, games that are really hard to find now. Just build a good collection, it's a really satisfying feeling. And yeah, the Wii U doesn't have a lot going for it now, but neither won't the PS4. If I recall well, the PS3 struggled a lot for the first 2/3 years between solving some hardware issues and getting a decent game lineup. The Wii U is definitely going through that phase now and to fool ourselves into thinking the PS4 and Xbox One are somehow 'superior' to those issues is just silly.

Yeah, the PS4 looks good now but I bet it'll look even better in a couple years with a hardware revision and a more robust game lineup. Meanwhile, you get to enjoy your Wii U and all the amazing Nintendo exclusives that are coming this year and in 2014.

#229300 Ubisoft has a 10 year/long-term plan for Watch Dogs

Posted by IvyT on 06 July 2013 - 08:53 AM in General Gaming

The gaming industry is slowly giving up on delivering unique experiences and instead trying to remake the same successful formulas they manage to come up with just so they can earn more money the easy way.

#230273 Ubisoft – Zombie U “wasn’t even close to being profitable”

Posted by IvyT on 09 July 2013 - 02:37 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Well obviously ZombiU isn't going to sell as well as, say, NSMBU but that's to be expected just a little, right? I mean, not only most people who buy the Wii U mostly enjoy only Nintendo's first-party games (tbh that's my case) but survival horror is rarely a genre that gets as many sales as other genres, and considering this is a brand new IP, it's sort of to be expected. And I've played the demo and to be honest I wasn't that impressed with it. I was gonna buy it but I'm glad I tried the demo first. The gameplay feels bland, repetitive and I feel like they didn't try that hard with the environments, not to mention story-wise it's terribly boring and there's not even a likable character that you can get attached to because once you die, you start over with a completely new character.

#230751 Ubisoft, Watchdogs, and the Wii U....

Posted by IvyT on 11 July 2013 - 06:56 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm not preordering this game until I'm sure it lives up to the hype. It has an interesting concept, the gameplay demo looked great but that's not always meaning it'll be good. And it's a new IP, so... a lot of uncertainty there.

I'd really love to have a good Wii U version to buy, instead of having to buy the PS3 version if I actually like the game, because I certainly the PS4 this year.

#232001 Ubisoft: "We won't even start" a game if it can't be a franchise

Posted by IvyT on 15 July 2013 - 11:39 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Well that is pretty weird. Looks like they don't want to make games that can't be milked with a sequel every year.

That's exactly what I think the industry is becoming: a bunch of greedy companies who won't mind shipping out pointless sequels to their games every year or so, and that greediness is one of the reasons why third-party support is so weak on the Wii U. They don't want to just profit, they want to profit BIG.

#232905 Watch_Dogs Collector's Edition Unveiled

Posted by IvyT on 18 July 2013 - 02:02 PM in General Gaming

Is the Wii U version not getting a Collector's Edition or is just an "honest mistake" from Ubi's part? This is ridiculous.

#229291 What Consoles do you have?

Posted by IvyT on 06 July 2013 - 08:34 AM in General Gaming

  • Playstation 2
  • Playstation 3
  • PSP (sold mine, but I can play on my brother's anytime)
  • Xbox 360 (meh, never really liked it much, it's not even hooked up to my TV anymore)
  • NES (that I'm looking to sell)
  • Game Boy Color
  • Game Boy Advance (had an SP too, my brother lost it)
  • Nintendo DSi XL
  • Wii U

and a gaming PC which is currently needing a small upgrade but I'm pleased with my PS3 and Wii U :)

#230250 What is the saddest ending you ever seen in a movie?

Posted by IvyT on 09 July 2013 - 02:18 PM in The Café

Moulin Rouge and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (can't remember anything else but I'm a big crybaby usually)

#231999 What makes a hardcore gamer?

Posted by IvyT on 15 July 2013 - 11:23 PM in Wii U Hardware

Ohhhh noooo one of these topics.
I think hardcore is how a person plays a game. Let's use Mario Kart for example like I usually do.

Lots of people play Mario Kart casually and just play races to have a little fun by themselves or with friends in person or online. Casual is fine no one should knock it because it's just for fun and that's what games are for.

Now a hardcore Mario Kart player will learn all the tricks in gameplay mechanics, get 3 stars on all cups, beat all the staff ghosts and try and set good records. It is all about how the player plays the game that defines it in my eyes.

Both casual and hardcore are just fine and I do both for certain games. No one should be ridiculed for being a casual gamer or need to feel like the only way they will be considered a gamer is to be hardcore. We all do it to escape and have fun. It doesn't matter.

Hardcore gamer is someone who accepts video games as a hobby and doesn't discriminate between games, genres, consoles, or developers.

I think these two posts pretty much sum it up. Nevertheless I think labels are just about the dumbest thing people need in a society and they only serve to create conflicts and discriminate and rarely do any good. When people say "labels are a necessity in a society" I just have to cringe.

I can be a "casual gamer" and still play hardcore one or two games. Does that make me any less casual? Does that make me completely hardcore? I don't know, probably none of you do either, and that's the beauty of not having labels, we're just gamers regardless if we're playing 12 hours a day and going on competitions or if we just enjoy to sit down for a while whenever we have free time and have a little fun.

#232535 What makes a hardcore gamer?

Posted by IvyT on 17 July 2013 - 04:51 PM in Wii U Hardware

I hate the term "hardcore gameer", dunno why, I just do.

I agree....

It has a very toolish vegetagy tone to it...

Most of all I hate how people hide under the "hardcore gamer" label to make others feel less like gamers, or like they're not good enough gamers just because they're not "as hardcore as them"

#228704 What Nintendo franchise do you want to see as an anime?

Posted by IvyT on 04 July 2013 - 04:15 AM in The Café

Voted for Zelda even though there's already an animated series... Pretty old stuff, I'd like to see a reboot or something. It's one of those franchises that has real potential.

#235175 What would you prefer for Earthbound? SNES port or a remake for Wii U?

Posted by IvyT on 27 July 2013 - 05:44 AM in General Gaming

I think with them putting the game on VC, a HD remake is definitely out of question in the foreseeable future.

#233760 Which Capture Card Is Better?

Posted by IvyT on 21 July 2013 - 11:03 AM in The Café

The only thing putting me off getting one of these things it's the absurd price they ask for them. Although the elgato one seems way better if not only because of it's small size but because it had HDMI ports.

#229292 Which game are you playing right now ?

Posted by IvyT on 06 July 2013 - 08:37 AM in General Gaming

On my PS3 I'm playing New Game Plus on The Last of Us, ICO and The Cave (too many titles too play thanks to PSN+).

On the Wii U, only playing Nintendo Land and Rayman Legends Challenges. Trying to get Lego City or MH3U soon.

#234165 Who is your favorite RPG character?

Posted by IvyT on 23 July 2013 - 08:47 AM in General Gaming

Having played so many RPG game this one is a tough question... From the top of my head, I think Fang from FF XIII and Liara from Mass Effect are my all-time favorites.

#228803 Why are people saying Wii U doesn't have good third party support?

Posted by IvyT on 04 July 2013 - 11:50 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Either way, I don't think people buy their Wii U for these third-party titles we're missing out on. Most of us have a PS3 and/or a PC too, and we buy the Wii U for the amazing exclusives and occasionally for those ports that get better features on the Wii U port.

Those of us who don't own another console are usually not interested in most third-party games anyway. Is it so hard to believe not everyone likes AAA games? Most of them are overrated; graphics aren't everything. Nintendo games are fun.

#232003 Why is NintendoLand panned as bad?

Posted by IvyT on 15 July 2013 - 11:46 PM in Wii U Games and Software

To me it doesn't feel like a full game just a dozen of mini-games put together. It's like Wii Sports and Game & Wario, these game just don't appeal to me, they feel rather superficial.

I feel the same way.

This game is fun with friends and family but having to buy additional controllers for a bunch of people is pretty much a waste of money, since they'll only be used for that one game, since most of the time I'm just playing by myself.

It does feel like a better offer than Wii Sports though. I had fun playing some of the minigames for the first couple of days before I got something else to play. It's just a shame that some of them are multiplayer-only, it was a dumb move on Nintendo's part. I don't have a lot of friends, and in my family the only other person who will play with me is my brother.

#229615 Wii U 3rd party games should be done like AC:3 was

Posted by IvyT on 07 July 2013 - 09:15 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think the use they gave to the gamepad on Batman: AC was pretty useful, to be honest changing equipment on screen required more steps than just simply selecting them with my finger on the gamepad.

#229895 Wii U 3rd party games should be done like AC:3 was

Posted by IvyT on 08 July 2013 - 10:07 AM in Wii U Games and Software

The textures issues in AC 3 are also present in the PS3/360 version. AC 3 is one of the worst games in the series and I'm afraid Ubisoft is 'milking' the series too far, without taking care into not losing its quality.

#233744 Wii U disc drive noise? ( Louder than my Ps3 )

Posted by IvyT on 21 July 2013 - 10:22 AM in Wii U Hardware

You should probably just go ahead and get a deluxe set while you're at it. It's definitely worth the $50 extra. In fact, idk why Nintendo is still selling the basic pack.

tried both..seems i might have to return it :/

#233460 Wii U disc drive noise? ( Louder than my Ps3 )

Posted by IvyT on 20 July 2013 - 11:00 AM in Wii U Hardware

Hmm definitely not normal. Mine's a black one and never did any noise like that. How long have you had yours for? Is it in a well ventilated place? Does it heat up a lot?

#230744 Wii U Firmware Update 3.1.0 is live

Posted by IvyT on 11 July 2013 - 06:27 AM in Wii U Hardware

Like I said on Miiverse, the next update could really use some notifications popups, like on the PS3/360... It's annoying because sometimes I'm messaging a friend or a friend comes online while I'm playing a game and I won't really know about it until I go on Miiverse myself.

Also, I really hope this "stability improvements" include less system freezes. I've been getting a few of those, especially when I'm using the web browser. Am I the only one? Also, sometimes it happens on Wii Mode, but less rarely there. Aaaand, probably unrelated to Wii U's software, but do you guys have trouble with connectivity with your Wiimotes? Mine disconnects every now in then.  <_<

#234831 Wii U Has Sold 1 Million Units in Japan

Posted by IvyT on 25 July 2013 - 01:43 PM in Wii U Hardware

I think it's very good considering the current games library. Also, reminder that Japan is a smaller market than NA and EU.

#232735 Wii U's 1 GB of Ram.... how to use it.

Posted by IvyT on 18 July 2013 - 05:29 AM in Wii U Hardware

If we look at the difference between first and third-party titles on the PS3 you can tell first-party games are usually the ones that utilize the full power of the PS3 better. So why expect different from the Wii U? It's clear that Nintendo struggled a bit with HD development but Pikmin 3 is the proof that the Wii U hardware is capable of some really beautiful, next-gen looking games. It's a shame that most people don't consider Nintendo games as "next-gen" just because they don't have "realistic graphics".

#231055 Wii U's price went down again in Asda

Posted by IvyT on 12 July 2013 - 10:03 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Well I bought the Deluxe set on a limited time sale too for 249€, which is 100€ than its usual price.
