    Hardware Sales:

    1. Xbox One 25,674
    2. 3DS LL 23,624
    3. Vita 14,441
    4. Wii U 7,349

    7. 3DS 5,931
    8. Vita TV 910
    9. PSP 288
    10. Xbox 360 126

3DS leads all hardware with 29,555 and Nintendo leads all hardware with ~37K sold for the week.  Obviously MK8 hardware boost is beginning to wane already and Hyrule Warriors had a minimal impact on hardware.  Hopefully Bayo 2 will bring the Wii U to a 10K unit average until Smash releases this November/December.

Nintendo really needs to pick these guys up as their exclusive developers.  I know they only have 3-4 legit games as their IP but they could sure help Retro, Monolith Soft, and even Nintendo tap into the potential of the Wii U.

I could only pick either this or Hyrule Warriors before Christmas.  It's such a hard decision...any suggestions which might be a better day one purchase.

too late. They are making porting a ps4 game as we speak. Who knows what the future holds. They say they wont abandon nintendo fanbase. I will take a wait and see approach.

I think you guys are TOTALLY underestimating Sony gamers.

Just because they porting over a nearly 2 year old game for the PS4, doesn't mean that Nintendo can't buy them.  It's a long shot but stranger things have happened before (Nintendo buying Fatal Frame franchise, co-owning the IP for Bayo2, and having a 3rd party developer create a new Nintendo IP in the form of the W101).

Bayonetta you get 2 games for the price of one. Tho I am biased as I love PG games in general. Warriors games I enjoy but it's more niche as people either like or hate those games. Bayonetta is just the best Action game ever made period and Bayo2 can likely top it.

HW I think you need to ask yourself how big a Zelda fan are you and have you played a Warriors game before. If not might be best to try some others first to get a basic idea. HW is not a reskin so other Warriors games don't give a full idea but a basic idea what to expect.

Thanks, the 2 games in 1 does sound mighty tempting!!!  Anyways, I've played a little bit of Warriors on the 3DS and it was somewhat boring as I did not know any of the characters or the point to the story.  However, having a story based on Hylian lore might make it more interesting to us Nintendo gamers.  By the way does Bayonetta play similar to DmC, Darkstalkers, or Dante's Inferno?

sorry didn't know how to set it to grid view after copy and pasting it from the site. Here's the link though: http://www.m-create..../e_ranking.html

Anyways, it's kinda' depressing seeing the Wii U dip to sub 8K levels just a few months after MK8 and 2 weeks after Hyrule Warriors. I'm hoping that Bayo 2 will bring it back up to 10K-15K level for a few weeks.  Otherwise Smash is the only thing Nintendo has in it's cards to bring Japanese sales to respectable levels.

This is confusing as heck to read... Thought it was spam at first...

I updated the thread to make it easier to read.

this weeks numbers should be crazy with SMASH. both in hardware and software for that 3ds

Yeah...I expect the whole 3DS family to be up somewhere between 50K-60K units next week with the XL selling ~40-50K and the regular doubling it's average weekly sales.  Hopefully it brings up Wii U console sales up from it's dismal spot to at least 10K units.  They really needed to have packed in a Hyrule Warriors bundle to keep momentum going from the MK8 boost. I don't know if even the combination of Bayo2 and Fatal Frame will be able to boost sales at this point.

    #298697 Let's Talk IPs!

Posted by DarkMagician77 on 17 September 2014 - 09:46 AM in Wii U Games and Software

What Nintendo needs right now is a decent action adventure shooter like Metroid Prime on the Wii U!!!  They were one of the pioneers of this genre for crying out loud.  They also need  to revive IPs like Eternal Darkness, Starfox, FireEmblem, Custom Robo, F-Zero(FRN would make a great F0  Nintendo) etc for their home console.  They should tap into funding more quality indie titles like Festival of Magic, Shovel Knight, and SteamWorlds to fill in the gaps as well.

    #298760 Let's Talk IPs!

Posted by DarkMagician77 on 18 September 2014 - 09:44 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Fire Emblem isn't dead. We just got Awakening on 3ds last year and SMTXFE is coming out. Metroid has already been announced as in the planning. StarFox was at E3 and has a 2015 release date. Fast Racing Neo will take care of F zero and they have over 80 new IP's the last 13 years. They have Fatal Frame just need to bring it west for horror. They also have a Action/Shooter coming up from the creator of Ninja Gaiden in Devils Third.

I am aware that some of these games have come out on the 3DS; but they have not come out in years for a home console.  Metroid Prime for example have been missing from the home console scene almost 7 years and some games like FE, StarFox, F0, Custom Robo, Battallion Wars, etc are even longer.  Besides, W101, Drillon, Sakura Samurai, NintendoLand and Splatoon what other IP's have Nintendo created?  I know they have a backlog of IP's but they rarely use them regardless of how well received they are by the public for example Eternal Darkness.  I for one wished that Nintendo funded and co-owned Shadow of the Eternals and made it into a sequel to Eternal Darkness rather than funding a superfical game like Devil's 3rd from Itakagi.

Somebody start a petition for Nintendo to add these guys to their stable of studios.  I know that Silicon Knights left a bad taste in their mouth; but Shin'en seems to be a lot more professional.  Whoever picks ups Shin'en not only gets their talent but a few decent IP's as well (Jett Rockett, Nano Assault, FRN, etc).

    I guess I didn't study it hard enough ;)

My other post regarding MC numbers has the game doing worse selling only 4K for the week with a total of 16K units; at that point it'll be a struggle just to reach 1/4 Hyrule Warriors sales.

Not sure if the links work but I wanted to show how FF XV looks wayyyyyy too similar to Xenoblade Chronicles!!! Imitation is the best form of flattery I guess.  So what do you guys think is SE getting some inspiration from Monolith Soft?

#298825 FFXV Trailer does it's best Xenoblade impression

Posted by DarkMagician77 on 19 September 2014 - 12:15 PM in General Gaming

FF15 most definitely drew inspiration from Xenoblade Chronicles.  It maybe a step or two above XBC in terms of graphics but originality and gameplay seems to favor XBC over FF15.   Also with SE predictable and cliche plots recently; XBC also is a step above that!!!  It's gonna be a good battle between these 2 rpgs.  I think XBC will out score FF15 in reviews but FF15 will mosdef win in the sales dept.  I predict XBC will sell between 1.2-1.5 mil units lifetime and FF15 will get >5mil easily

#298835 FFXV Trailer does it's best Xenoblade impression

Posted by DarkMagician77 on 19 September 2014 - 05:43 PM in General Gaming

Yeah, I always have a soft spot for reality based fantasy too.

People arent comparing the games, just the visual themes, which 15 very blatantly 'borrowed' from Xenoblade and X.

Its pretty conspicuous too. The game was shown off many times before, had nothing remotely X like about it. It dissapears for an extended period of time after X is shown off, and resurfaces with a new director and X styled imagery duct taped all over it. Thats what we are comparing.

And while we are mocking the blatant copying and car full of beleiber fanboys a little, I know I would be lying if I said aping X wasnt working, it appeals to me much, MUCH more than it did pre X copying.

UNFORTUNATELY, unlike X... Its not looking like its going to be remotely close to X in terms of open world exploration... Or even open world at all.

Given all of the interviews, and now the latest trailer, it does indeed look to be styled after the action games Nomura keeps likening it too, complete with an on rails adventure, and that highway looks like its your rails, looks like you get off when the game tells you can, tells you to go do your scripted events in the scripted areas and missions, and then get right back on the rails to go to the next attraction.

3Dude summed it up pretty well; you just left out the part where plot and strory will be typical SE where it either confuses the hell out of you with so many twist; or a boring, predictable cliched script that once again is covered in eye candy.  Seriously think that SE had gone downhill since letting go of Sakaguchi san.

They seem like two different games to me. I don't see the point in comparing them. Both are probably going to be great anyway. On the subject of Final Fantasy XV, this is probably the most i've been excited about a Final Fantasy game in a very long time. It's an interesting concept, a fantasy world based on reality. The characters move so smoothly in combat and the graphics are pretty gorgeous.  I think it's going to be pretty cool. Xenoblade X looks pretty cool too (even though I don't have a Wii U).

check out the two videos I posted earlier; FF15 design is really influenced by XBC and XB!!!

    #298933 Horrible WiiU Bayonetta footage

Posted by DarkMagician77 on 21 September 2014 - 11:52 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Tv? You think they captured this from the tv? I thought a capturecard was used. Don't know if you can adjust rgb settings on those though. Yet, the same editor knew how to capture bayonetta2 footage since that looks great. Strange case.

It really doesn't matter as the Wii U was meant for being played on a regular HDTV that uses limited range RGB setting anyways (90% of console gamers game on LED TVs instead of monitors),  Therefore the insufficiency displayed on those videos using capture cards that are meant for Full RGB will be negligible if not eliminated all together.  C'mon Lupaie are you still thinking that the Wii U is subpar compared to X360 or PS3?  Can't we give this a rest as it's been proven time and time again that the Wii U is a step or two ahead of the X360/PS3 even if it is a step back from PS4/X1.

I am relieved that the game sold quite decently.  It was in line with the 35K-40K I was expecting avoiding a disaster if it sold only >20K that many Wii U haters were predicting.  It should creep to a decent 100K units sold by the end of the year having almost similar sales to HW (60K) and expected sales boost from Wii U version of Smash.  The Wii U really needs a home console version of MH4 and Pokemon RPG to really maintain momentum after the Smash release.  I don't see any software maintaining it's hardware sales after Smash Bros.  PS4 and Destiny had a good hold and X1 is literally DOA in Japan with sales  <1.5K units.  On the portable side the 3DS is beasting over the PSV which is all but dead anywhere outside Japan!!

BTW I expect Bayo2 to sell 2-3x as much in the NA territories and 1.5x-2x in EU territories compared to Japan!!!

#299097 Xenoblade Chronicles vs FF XV what do you think?

Posted by DarkMagician77 on 24 September 2014 - 12:11 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I definitely feel that FFXV eventually became influenced by the nature of the positive responses about Xenoblade's vast world.

I also believe they have been making adjustments to more closely compete with Xenoblade Chronicles 'X' now that they've seen it, mostly because there's no denying that many people such as myself feel that Xenoblade Chronicles was the proper spiritual successor to the Final Fantasy series when it started going after emo teenager stuff and started completely ignoring that "fantasy" part in the title, lol

With the abomination that was FF XIII, SE surely needed inspiration from an actual GOOD RPG that is XBC!!!

I hope Bayonetta 2 can sell 100k in Japan..

    [Wii U] Bayonetta 2 (Nintendo, 09/20/14) – 38,828 (New)

Better opening then Wonderful 101.. that 1st week was a bit less than 7,000.

I agree that it is wayyyy better start compared to W101 (still hoping that they make a sequel with this new Nintendo IP) and the game has a sure shot of hitting 100K units in Japan alone before the end of the year.  I expect it to sell somewhere in the 100K units in the USA in it's first week with NPD giving it a monthly sale of around 140K-150K for the month.  I am hoping that with Operation Platinum that it sells another 200K-300K until the end of the holidays.  In the EU I expect 85K-90K units the first week and selling another 100K for the rest of the year.  In total I expect it to reach at least 550K after the holidays and legging out to 1Mil by the end of the Wii U lifetime.

It does look amazing... the amount of detail in the environments shown thus far for a racing game is pretty amazing. 60fps too. I am excited for the fzero course in Mk8.

There's an F course in MK8?   Anyways, this would make a great farmed out F0 for Nintendo if they do choose to release the game on the Wii U.  In fact, SoE was a good ED sequel which I was surprised that Nintendo didn't fund to make a sequel.

#299197 Which games should Nintendo fund to add software to the Wii U.

Posted by DarkMagician77 on 25 September 2014 - 11:37 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Recently Nintendo has been funding various studios to add new IP's (in the case of Bayo2 co-owning) to their stable of games for the Wii U.  A few examples of these are Devil's 3rd, Wonderful101, and the critically acclaimed Bayo2.  Which other games should Nintendo fund in order to gain more software and more importantly new IPs for the Wii U?  I personally liked Shadow of the Eternals; despite it's early stages it looked like it could have been a good sequel to Eternal Darkness.  It had nice visuals and the story was at least intriguing.  What do you guys think any other ones Nintendo should have picked up?

It's part of a dlc pack coming out .

wow...I ordered both packs not even knowing it had it!!! Anyways, FRN would make a proper sequel for F-Zero!!!  I hope Nintendo somehow wakes up and funds these quality games.  I agree with the w101 and Bayo2 funding but I have doubts about D3rd and think they missed an opportunity with Shadow of the Eternals.
