This is definately a huge test for nintendo. If they do have online play for both games and others then they are serious about trying to get hardcore gamers back becuase hardcore gamers love co-op and competition, if they dont. Then it means that they're relying on 3rd party support to satify the hardcore gamers while they make games for fans and casual gamers.

As long as theirs a option for both. I'm not complaining but if someone tells me that digital is the way of the future i wil disagree. because many gamers like 70% want to get a physical copy. we've been asked and we awnsered Physical copys and digital should be optional.

A $299 price tag will eliminate any and all barrier to entry.

For a games platform such as the Wii U, which looks poised to create strong software tie-in, it won't matter.

Nintendo knows that need to offer lots of power for a low price, like they did with the 3DS.  they may not profit for a year on the hardware, but subsequent years will be different.

It's hard to see Nintendo missing out on profit from it's hardware, but they may do so if they feel they havent' generated a strong enough marketing "buzz"

Price it too high and it just won't sell (PS3 anyone?). but it there is one thing the previosu generation has taught us, it is that console prices go up every generation and people are willing to pay more to get more.

The original Wii with dirt cheap tech started out at $249.  The much more ambitious and forward looking Wii U starting out at $349 is a great bargain for a system of this power level and capabilities.

The "proper" Xbox 360, without motion controls or a screen enabled GamePad, cost $399 to purchase at launch.

Even the bare bones, no hard drive, crippled version was $299.

So a next generation system, in 2012, launching at $349 with next level power, a Gamepad with relatively large additional screen and free online capabilities is quite the bargain. Normally, I would have expected a $399 price tag, but Nintendo is wanting to deliver high end power at an affordable price.  This is a long way from 2005 and $349 is affordable.  Microsoft and Sony provably won't be under that price either.  And a year or two down the road, I can see a price drop to $299 in order to combat the new console launches.

Again, Nintendo CAN release at $299 to ensure a quick install base and entrench the system.  but they won't profit on the hardware for about a year if they do so.  And that is something they've only changed stance on once.  If they can, I would love to see it.  just not expecting it. it's not like they haven't earned their money here.

I think $349 will be the minimum, considering the system power, the gamepad, and the R&D that went into it.

That's a great deal for this console. It's high end equipment. And $350 is affordable. Nintendo "could" possibly sell it at $299 if they made zero profit or even took a loss. $349 buys a great Christmas gift.

I'm 75% sure it'll be $300. it feels like the right number to sell it for.

why 360? sure the online is better but you have to pay while the PS3 is free. you could be buying more games with that money. honestly id pick PS3 then the Wii.

Video game Music, it's remixes, anime songs, OverClocked Remixes Miku Hatsune, and Bentley Jones aka the guy who did Silver's Theme song

1. Sonic the Hedgehog Anime Movie - it was actually a anime series in japan but when they cancelled it they decided to bundle them together and make it a movie. its actually quite good. the fight scenes are like dragonball z with teleportation effects due to sonic being so fast.
2. Megaman the Movie (Fanmade) - yeah it's actually made by fans and its free to watch on youtube. But you do have to forgive them on their special effects, it's not high budget so if you nitpick about the special effects then you're a idiot. the movie stays true to the game.
3. Tales of Vesperia - First Strike - It's a prequel and the animation is the same as in the game, it's good.

I'm going to cheat and say the
Wii U mainly cuz it looks really promising.
favorite handheld is the 3DS. the graphics are good enough to not look horrible and the game library is steller.

Personally, I think every conference had it's ups and downs. Microsoft did strt out strong with it's two franchises, Halo and Gears of War but then they made the biggest deal over pointless things that the other consoles could do, internet and music(I'm aware the Wii can't do music but still) not only that but they were wasting our time with Nike games. which i support but found it extremely boring. then we got ushered, then after that they talked about their glass thing and it was interesting but then i groaned when they were advertising other things which then made me stop watching.
then came Sony's and i thought it was the most decent overall three of them. With God of War, The Last of Us, Beyond, the two Bundles for Assassin's Creed III which im getting for the Wii U it was going to be the best conference cuz it didnt have any downfalls...that is until we get to the Wonderbook. and it all went downhill from there.
Ubisoft is definately the best as there was no major fails like Wonderbook n such mainly the in between Dialogue was a bit annoying but passable. then they had big hits like Rayman Legends, Zombi U, that Avengers game, Far cry 3, Just Dance 4, they were really going all support on the Wii U which is what everyone was wanting to see and they delivered, which is why they were well received.

Nintendo, first off i loved the intro very nice intro and then they started out big with Pikmin 3, then the talked about the 2 Mario games, which i really loved, mainly because I expected NSMB2 but wasn't expecting NSMBU and i remembered everyone whining saying they wanted a Mario game in the Launch so i don't see why people were complaining. Next came the 2 other 3DS games which i was happy to hear more detail about as it was something I've been wanting to hear more of, then after that was the Batman exclusive which after watching videos about the built up to the launch i got excited for it once again. then more Zombi U with a better trailer and i was pleased with it. then came NintendoLand which I'm hoping it'll come with the system and il love it then, however i too was bored when they conitnued on, I wasn't mad but more bored. then when the conference as over i was really skepical as Nintendo always ended with epic trailers. It was til after the E3 i heard Retro told Reggie to not show the Secret game and stall, so yeah i think that ruined their momentum as i was expecting epic trailers as always

No, cuz the Wii U is much easier to port games to unlike the PS3 where developers said they had difficulty with.

Well it was just a though seeing as they have Retro Studios doing a amazing job on Donkey Kong Country, Metroid Prime and maybe Mario Kart 7. and hopefully that secret Project which is possibly Star Fox/Metroid Fusion Saga.
