So...
Team Meat wants Nintendo to hype up their somewhat lame character to the level of belonging in a Smash Bros. game?!?! For free???
And what does Nintendo get in return for their investment... the "privilege" of letting Team Meat make money off of Wii U game sales?
Please.
This isn't like Square wanting to put Cloud in the game in exchange for new Final Fantasy games.
Sounds like they just need to lease a dev kit and come up with a business model like everyone else.
Nintendo isn't here to create buzz for Meat Boy. They tried doing that already with Rayman. Look where that got them...

As much as i love Team Meat, this is really not the way to get what they want. I think it would be great to have Meat boy appear in Smash Bro's (imagine what the stage would look like), but demanding it for the sake of porting games that are well over a year old.
I doubt Nintendo will cooperate, but i do hope that they give this a lot of thought before coming to a decision.
This is where it ends

They only mentioned their upcoming game Mew-genics, I can only assume Nintendo still wouldn't allow BoI on the eShop.

"I doubt any developer wouldn’t want one of their characters in a Smash Bros. title, but Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes of Team Meat — the folks behind Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac — have specifically shared that, if Nintendo were to put Meat Boy in one of the games, they would work on something for a Nintendo platform. They wouldn’t work on something exclusive for the platform, but as Refenes clarified:
If they wanted Mew-Genics or something and they could promise us Meat Boy would be in the game we’d develop Mew-Genics for them… This is how they would buy it from us. And that’s a very cheap price.
(And to further clarify, Mew-Genics is the new title they’re working on.)
But while I wouldn’t mind Meat Boy being in Smash Bros., I’m assuming there’d be no way to accurately portray him without the inclusion of blood, so I don’t see it happening. There’s also the issue of Nintendo already being fairly-restrictive when it comes to who shows up in the game’s roster. I’m sure plenty of other characters are considered a higher priority." -3dsblog
Honestly, this wouldn't make much sense seeing as Super Meat Boy was never put on wiiware (but it was going to). I think SSB4 will mainly contain Nintendo characters with a few third party characters mainly from Namco Bandai.

I read this somewhere else - seems pretty cocky to say something like that. Great game...but really?

lmfao they're stupid if they think "super meat boy" is going to be in smash bros. they got one good game review and now they think they're deserving to be in smash bros? LMFAO.

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect
