also nvidia came up with Shield... console. I would preffer nvidia to be honnest, powering wii U... but nvidia is for 2 screens per gpu... (they could easily implement a second one in a modified sli way, for up to 3-4 screens)...
Nvidia cores are better than amds... Much better. For example... if we have a card with 320 spus by amd and an nvidia card with 320 cuda cores.. (its equivelant).
the nvidia card will be 2x more performance than amds... Nvidia is also very hard to deal with... monopoly... like Intel.

1xxx series was horible by amd... from 4xxx and after in amd.. Nvidia was always 1st with much better drivers and performance. The only thing I like in amd today, is the much superior computing power in the gpu, versus the nvidia... nvidia cards now are mostly for games, because they sell the TESLA gpus for pros.

who cares honestly, we aren't building the tech. Both companies are good

Nvidias at it again.
'ps4 has a low end cpu and a low to mid range graphics card'.
Its true of course, but why so chatty on the subject?

The PlayStation 4 announcement last month immediately led to a PS4 vs Xbox 720 debate, but perhaps Sony and Microsoft's next-generation consoles are competing for second place.
"Compared to gaming PCs, the PS4 specs are in the neighborhood of a low-end CPU, and a low- to mid-range GPU side," said Nvidia's Tony Tamasi to TechRadar.
As Nvidia's senior vice president of content and development, he sees the PS4's specs as outdated, even today.
"If the PS4 ships in December as Sony indicated, it will only offer about half the performance of a GTX680 GPU (based on GFLOPS and texture), which launched in March 2012, more than a year and a half ago."
It only gets worseTamasi also notes that consoles, by definition, are closed platforms and not upgradeable.
"What you get today in terms of performance is what you're stuck with five - 10 years down the road. PCs don't have these problems," he told TechRadar.
"They are open and can be upgraded at any time to harness the power of newer GPUs for more performance and to take advantage of newer, modern graphics technologies."
The gap between console and PC gaming has become more apparent this console generation, and Tamasi expects more of the same when PS4 andXbox 720 get here.
"If history predicts the future, then these next-generation consoles, while being more powerful than the current ones, will very quickly end up more than an order of magnitude behind the PC."
PS4 not worth the cost to NvidiaThe comments from the Nvidia senior vice president are noteworthy because they aren't just from an industry rival trying promote PC gaming vs PS4.
The remarks come from the same company that powers the PS3's graphics chip.
Nvidia isn't buying into the PS4, however. Sony announced specs that include an eight-core AMD processor and a custom Radeon GPU.
"I'm sure there was a negotiation that went on," Tamasi told GameSpot, "and we came to the conclusion that we didn't want to do the business at the price those guys were willing to pay."
Instead, Tamasi said that Nvidia, with only so many engineers and so much capability, will be able to focus on another portion of its business that it wouldn't be able to if it did chips for Sony.
Nvidia's projects include delivering high-end graphics cards like theGeForce GTX Titan and supplying Apple computers with GPUs.
It's also looking to capture mobile processing with its Tegra 4i system on a chip for smartphones and tablets, and by releasing its own handheld gaming platform, Nvidia Project Shield.

Uknight talks about not giving a damn.

i hope people don't take the information said by nvidia as invalid just because sony chose AMD over them this time because they're completely right, And if the jump for the next-gen of intel processors is bigger than the sandy-ivy bridge jump PCs will be even further ahead
Posted 16 March 2013 - 06:05 AM
they didnt choose amd over them.. as he says, they made an offer, but the money they offered was to little for them. And another myth fall down..
if the ps4 gpu is -50% than a gtx680 in specs.... Then NOWAY to be 7850 as many claim... is going to be like 7770, 7760 level specs...
7850 is absolutelly a mid range....
Look the chart " LOW TO MID" GPus http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/
lol... 7770 is not in that list... its considered mid range also.

confirmed ps4 is last gen
Posted 16 March 2013 - 05:26 PM
Well, comparing to a PC the PS4 really is last gen. I know people don't exactly care about the PC but it far and beyond that of a console and always will be. The PS4 price is going to drop pretty fast because of the tech companies like Intel bring to the table. The more tech that comes out the older consoles feel.
I don't blame NVIDIA. They will continue to be what they always were/are and stay profitable.

Either you're being sarcastic or you're trolling. I'm thinking the latter.
Posted 17 March 2013 - 07:57 AM
Hope your reasoning is that console generations are dependant upon what number of systems came before, and thus have nothing to do with system power...This isnt a surprise, a lot if people saw this coming and told others to reel in wild fantasies about console power.

Gamejunkie, on 17 Mar 2013 - 02:11, said:Regardless of power the PS4 is a next gen system. In terms of power its also a next gen system as its on paper more powerful then the current gen consoles.
Ha ha, so was the original wii.
Its not a matter of being more powerful, its a matter of by how much. And its becoming very VERY clear, that its nowhere NEAR the last jump.
