Seriously desert punk is there anyway u can just pee off:? I Think everyone is now aware that Wii u is no kind of beast compared to the next Xbox or playstation offerings but you have to come in to the forums acting a fool slapping anyone down who has an opinion on Wii u being just slightly more powerful than the ps360.... Seriously man when anyone ever questions ur logic on stuff u run off like ur backside is on fire without a reply, but when there a new post questioning the wii u capabilities u seem to jump In quicker than a hooker being offered double money for her time..... Seriously dude if everyone who is optimistic in Wii u capabilities is letdown then that's their problem no one needs a douche like you to come in and try and spit over everything granted u have an opinion bit that's all it is an opinion so stop coming in acting like its fact cuz of some stuff u read off of neogaf.. I'm not a fanboy of any console infact I have a ps3 and look forward to getting a ps4 but u come in here acting like you know everything about the wi u capabilities I mean Ffs can u sit there and describe what the wii u cpu or gpu is capable of by just looking at die pics off neogaf???? No u can't as the neogaf tech experts having hard time to explain die shots themselves.

Utterly childish response as expected. Neogaf experts have a range of theories about wii u performance but they generally sit in a realistic area. When I said the wii u gpu was around 350 gflops many on neogaf were saying lower than that. It is a figure that is approximately in the middle of expectations based on the evidence available.

Try to see it from the other side. For people who like realism its getting plainly ridiculous for people to write nonsense about the wii u being powerful when its struggling to match the 360 and PS3 most of the time. Has anyone considered that these articles might actually be true and the developers aren't conspiring against Nintendo but simply can't run their modern game engines on a console with low cpu resources. That's really what these articles are about. Some people warp reality to suit their own desired beliefs, others just prefer to deal with the real world.

The problem seems to be consistently coming from EA though.  While I agree with you that the Wii U isnt a powerhouse in disguise, its also not the weakling that many would like to paint it out to be.  People have talked about theoretical performance on the 360 and PS3, and how they have never come close to reaching those numbers in game.  I think that the Wii U will end up being far more capable of coming close to its theoretical performance peak.  Think of it this way, an I7 CPU is a powerful CPU, but take that same CPU and remove the cache, how powerful is it now?  Thats an exageration of the PS3 and 360 hardware architecure, the compenents were powerful but there were multiple bottlenecks in the system.

The CPU argument has become a joke as soon as Sony revieled that they were using a Jag CPU.  Yes, its eight cores, but those cores arent powerhouses.  At the most, the PS4 might be 2-3 times more capable than the tri core cpu powering the Wii U.

The Wii U doesnt use off the shelf compenents, so that the design is very much propriety and will take a very specific approach to getting the most out of it.  We have a few more weeks before we will get to see what EAD and Retro have been doing.  I expect these games to really showcase what the hardware can do.  We will likely never no any more than we already do about the hardware specs, so its up to the developers to really show us just where the hardware really stands, and an exclusive from Retro is likely to do just that.

Show them the game play footage of Shadows of the Eternals.

In fact, show EA that too.

I wouldn't do that, you'd only make them laugh at you even more if you think that looks next gen.

It looks like a PC game from 2 years ago.

So did Killzone, it looked about as good as Crysis.  OG Crysis, on PC.  This is similar.  This is what we can expect from next gen all around, PC has been doing it for years already, consoles are making up some ground.

It did look great for a console game, notably the ability to jump from interior to exterior environments without any lag or issues.  The environmental effects also looked very good.

Also, it's CryEngine3, so there is a lot that can be done to make it look better later in development.  CryEngine is still one of the best if not the best game engine available.

I don't know of you have seen the nine minute game play demo, nor do I know if you have read every post I made in this thread. However, you can't tell me the scene with the lava doesn't look better than anything you have seen on current generation. Or last Gen now.

The fast it's cry3 means it can be as good looking as crysis 2 etc., but the budget means it won't be.

It's still crowd-funded, I wouldn't expect AAA grafix from it, and to think they're AAA next gen graphics is to be a silly goose of the highest order.

EA will pour about 3 times the cost of this game into just making the frostbite 3 engine look good, and a load more money on the other parts to the engine.

On consoles? no
But it's not ball-taking.

I watched the IGN thing, it was pre-rendered stuff, not in-game by dedaks' own admission, and given how sleazy he might be from the unreal debacle and a bunch of other things he's known for, who knows.
Also it seemed to be an sd video for some reason, so I'm not being too harsh on it, because it probably would look better if ign gave me an hd video of it.

He never said it was pre-rendered.  They did say the demo was running on PC and that it was reflective of how the game would look on WiiU.

Nah, that's what the website says. On IGN he said it was another word for pre-baked stuff.

I've been looking around the website looking for this, but the only reference to the video on the site is that it is "running on PC", do you happen to know where they said it was pre-rendered?  Pre-renders look much better than this typically, and are usually much more cinematic, it is at least running live in the engine.

What platform was the demo video created with?
The demo is running on a PC, but it is compatible with the Wii U. Since CryENGINE supports the Wii U, we do not expect substantial differences between the two versions.

The IGN video was linked earlier in the thread by someone.

Notice how my last post specifically said that he said it on IGN not on the website.

I've seen the video, several times, there is no indication from the video that says it is pre-baked, as you claim.  There is also nothing on the game's site that says it.

Yeah, THAT'S BECAUSE I SAID THEY SAID IT IN THE VIDEO NOT THE WEBSITE.

As for comment number one, I said "another word for", meaning that's not exactly what he said, but it's another word for what he said the footage is.

Right at the start.

I'll rewatch the video tonight, but I as well didn't hear any mention that it was pre rendered. In fact, on the web site I believe it said 9 minutes of game play footage. But, and I thought it was odd, the demo we watched wasn't really talked about on what platform it was on or if it was prerendered.

I thought it was on the Wii U because of the buttons, but it appears they are placeholders.

The fast it's cry3 means it can be as good looking as crysis 2 etc., but the budget means it won't be.

I used the video controls to make it 720p. I did think it was odd it's not 1080 though.

Right at the start.

That's the problem, he doesn't say it, nor does he say "another word for it" at any point in the video.  What he does say, is that everything is non final and that aspects of the video will change.  Which is another word for "this is development footage only"

Where's the controls?

I think ign changed their videos since i last watched them.

I figured it out!

I like the wall textures.

The lightning is hilarious though.

Looks alright.

I take that to mean this is a bullshot/bulltrailer.

Maybe if I trusted the guy more, but the stuff I've read about him makes him seem like a fraudster.

For example:

Let's start a revolution. YAAAR.

I'll give the new CEO a chance though.

Except he's not exactly a NEW CEO.

He has been in this spot before.

He's no gamechanger.  He's a time-buyer.
