Okay, I'm just wondering.

Who is worth more between Mario and Sonic? 

Mario games obviously sells more games, but then again Sonic have comics and TV series and such.
Mario also had a TV series but not as successful as Sonic's.   

Anyone have some concrete info on this matter?

Mario is the biggest video game mascot to date... who the heck knows who sonic is? XD

But you already mentioned that. I doubt the TV series and comics would make Sonic pull ahead of the hugeness that is Mario.

I like both series very much, but I would have to say that Mario is much better. The games are more enjoyable and have more re-playability IMO

That's probably true, but I'm still a Sonic fan. The reason why is because the storyline of the games seems a little deeper, well the 3D games. Also, the games have music with lyrics.

There was no doubt in my mind when I first saw this thread that Mario was going to be by far the larger game seller....But I had No idea that Sonic games pulled such low numbers, Not to say that 1.5-3 million is nothing to shake a stick at, I just always assumed for some reason Sonic pulled larger numbers than that

Yeah IK that mario is selling vastly superior in games, but how much does Sega make on the comics and cartoons? Any numbers on how much Sonic have made Sega totally and Nintendo have off mario?

It's probably a no-brainer that Mario games sell more, but VGchartz is not a reliable source for video game sales.

I prefer Sonic over Mario, but I would put money on Mario being worth quite a lot more in terms of monetary value than Sonic. Even with Sonic's other ventures.

The way I see it is, since Nintendo is also a console maker, they have more to lose from selling Mario than Sega would Sonic, so Mario would probably cost a lot more.

Even though i like sonic more, I'm confident that Mario is a bigger icon than sonic. However, I'm sure Sonic can;t be that far behind.

Never really got into Sonic until Sonic Transformed. Very cool game.  Love Mariokart.  Part of the reason I got a Wii U is b/c I'm familiar with the Mario games and will buy Mariokart U when it comes out.  I think Sonic Transformed set a high bar for Mariokart, IMO. Might even try Sonic on Wii U when it comes out.

You're missing out. But if you try more Sonic games, just be careful your expectations aren't too high, Sega had a streak of producing mediocre ones for awhile.
