I thought I'd make this post for those of you who don't know what we're dealing with right now in CT. Bugs, specifically Cicadas. These bugs are locust like bugs that appear every 17 years in CT after living in the ground. They come out when the soil hits 64 degrees Fahrenheit after 17 years specifically, no sooner or later. They are beginning to pop up in swarms, roughly 30 billion at the least are to appear. They're coming out of the ground to molt, then mate, and their mating call when done in swarms can reach the same volume as a jackhammer. After they mate, they lay their eggs in holes in tree branches then die. The babies "nymphs" then hatch a week or so after and fall out of the tree into the ground to live for the next 17 years and repeat the cycle. Basically, if your petrified of bugs like I am, there's roughly 600-1500 to 1 person ratio. We're screwed.

I heard of that going on in the news! I'm sort of glad I can't hear any where I am, partially for the sake of my eardrums, and because I can't think of cicadas without relating them to a certain series lol.

I was never really annoyed by the noises that cicadas made. There were some that lived in the town I used to live in. I kind of think their life cycle is fascinating. Now if there were 30 million spiders, that would be a different story. I think I would take a vacation.

I held a few cicadas the last time they invaded my state. They are very dosile. But they are loud! 120dB!
