There is so many things wrong with this miyamoto article it's not even funny

1.He wanted a straight remake to do well

2.If it does not do well it will be the last in the series

And here's what happened to the remake no one asked for....

IT BOMBED!

This is why we will never see another star fox game face facts the series is dead get over it!

I wouldn't say it "bombed" at all. According to VGChartz, the title sold a little over 720,000 copies, and that's not even including digital sales. In my opinion, a port of a game that had very little changed when it was ported over selling 700,000+ copies overall isn't bad sales at all.

EDIT: http://www.ign.com/a...g-sales-figures

According to this, about 20% of Star Fox 64 3D's sales were made digitally as of April 17th, 2013. So 720,000 copies times 20% = 144,000 copies.

So a nearly straight-up port of a game sold at least 860,000 copies. Now, there must've been very little investment put into SF643D. Just to compare, I'm sure Fire Emblem: Awakening had waaaay more money dropped into it, sold around the same amount of copies as Star Fox 64 3D, and Nintendo was very, very pleased with the sales of the game.

So yeah. StarFox is nowhere near dead.

I've read other articles which point out that Miyamoto was joking in his remarks, meaning not to take him seriously. Even in the article you link to, it says (laughs) after a statement he makes.

Humor is different in parts of the world. As Papa GameCollector pointed out, 700,000 + sales isn't what I would call garbage.

The real question I have is, is the remake good though? I'm thinking about buying it for a modest price.

The game was also released early on in the life of the 3DS when it was struggling in sales itself, higher price point etc. Think in context OP.

I want to pick it up as well, never can find a new copy on sale very much for less then $30 bucks... must say something about the game lol

Luckily for me, my brother has the game, so I didn't need to buy it, but after playing through it a few times (lots of replay value, but very short), I would say yeah, I wouldn't spend more than $30 on it. Maybe if you see it on sale for $20 or $25, definitely pick it up!

I think it's worth purchasing around the $20-$30 price point. It's short to play through to the end but has three routes and two end bosses if I remember right... So if you want to experience all the planets and bosses you could roughly triple the end play time, assuming you know how to unlock the routes. ;P Even after that there's still a bit of replayability value if you're into high scores. Turns it into a decent sized game, but just don't expect it to last long. Perhaps 4 hours to do the bare minimum of unlocking all the planets if you beat everything on the first try?

Edit: To be more on topic... I've purchased it. It's a good remake, even if it's basically a straight port. I try not to purchase remakes but it was worth it to me, I guess partially because it released during the drought. :P May actually pop it in my 3DS now that I'm reminded of it... AC's been taking up all my gaming time.

Considering Kamiya has expressed interest in doing a Star Fox game multiple times now, I'm sure he'll get around to it once Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101 release.

The remake is awful by the way, little to none content was added. I'm surprise it sold as nearly as much as it did. They should of priced it 10 or 15 dollars. 40 was too much for a 3 hour game.

Its a completely faithful remake with completely overhauled graphics and multiplayer. It is really a shame that the mp wasnt online though, as its absolutely fantastic fun, even just playing against bots.

Anyways, im locking this, since the op's only responses to well thought out arguments to the contrary are one line attacks. This is clearly not going anywhere.
