There is another 1 GB of "flexible memory" that can be used to boost games when not in use by the OS
oh dear, looks like X1 now has the RAM amount advantage

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect

but i thought 7gb was for games.

"A new rumor suggests" opening line of the article. Take this with a grain of salt. I don't trust anything if it doesn't come from someone who DEFINATELY know what they are talking about. If this is true, then PS4 has a rediculous operating system.
Its from Digital Foundry, all I know about them is that they do framerate and benchmarks tests and comparisons
but i thought 7gb was for games.
that's what it was initially reported as

3.5 GB for 1 Operating System... Are people stupid enough to believe this???
Don't forget theres the background processors, video compression units, automatic game recording, etc. Its doing a lot so I wouldn't be surprised.

Actually, the opposite. People were stupid enough to think 7 gigs was for games when as mentioned above you have heavy multi-tasks operations going on like desktop computers have.

So this found its way here.
I'm assuming its fake.

I was busy attempting to digest Amdahl's Law to reply to your other post in a fashion worthy of your time, but this representation of 'moving goal posts' has clearly shown us what their intentions are for 1080p on next gen (supposing this is true).
It makes sense to B-school folks, as the mass market will probably want what they will be doing with this withheld ram over what people like us will want them doing on screen. I still cannot get anyone I know to 'spot the jaggy' with AA enabled or disabled. Take away their cross game chat, and you have have a deal breaker.

Did I ever say it was?
Considering the title says "REPORT" instead of "RUMOR From Digital Foundry: Then yeah, you very much made it sound confirmed.
Changing the thread title to reflect facts.
The post above was certified to be simply smashing by the Wii U Forum Staff.
