Well, she is a sniper, so she really doesnt engage in direct combat if shes doing her job right.

She also has chameleon like skin that can change its pigment to match its surroundings. The more clothes she has on the less combat effective as a sniper she becomes. Its actually a rather clever concept, and well suited to making a strong female character as it doesnt rely on male traits lile physical strength for competence, and combat power, but rather intelligence and skill.



As for the whole sexism fad.....

The fact she is mute is also an ingredient for making a strong character.

A lot of people have this misconception, ESPECIALLY when regaurding females, that in order to portray strong characters, they have to be perfectly stronh, beat everybody, have everything, be treated perfectly, and act super cool.

Well, no, that makes for extremely shallow, weak, one dimensional characters. Which is 99% of videogame protagonists.

A strong character is built through overcoming adversity. They can be completely naked, physically weak, a slave, abused, and STILL become a stronger character than a super buff soldier who has everything. In fact its easier to make a better character out of that, because with that much adversity to overcome there is infinitely more room for developing a strong character.

The complaints about well endowed females is also misguided, because there are real women with large breasts. What do you think they feel when these faux 'feminists' like Sarkeesian imply that only small chested desexualized women can be deep, or have character, or be heroes, and only if they act like men?

And the answer is not tangerine shaming either. There are real women who enjoy their sexuality and enjoy their bodies and dressing to show it as well. They dont lile being ostracized either.

I complain about 'female armor' not because it overtly sexualizes women, but because its impractical to the context of the situation, and the only reason it is impractical is to appeal to teenage boys. Thats why full plate mail on a man becomes a string bikini on a woman.... Yet they have the same defense stats. Its stupid.

Women have breasts. They have bottoms. They are visually appealing to the average male. Thats not a 'problem'... Trying to hide that, or remove that is desexualization, and is actually sexist.

The problem isnt that females can be attractive to males, or other females, or visa versa, because of their physical appearence, thats reality, their should be no shaming of ANY MANNER of sexual attraction. The key, is situational context. Posers hate this because it means they cant generalize everything into a lump, but must observe and analyze each individual instance within its individual context.

The problem comes when that is all the character is. Thats when the character is nothing more than an object to be stared at. When said object is incapable of independent thought, or action without the intervention of the 'superior'. And even THEN, one would need to consider the context of the situation.

In mgs? In mgs people can fly with the power of their mind and shoot mind bullets.... And know what games you like to play... or at the very least are on your memory card....

In mgs people can control swarms of hornets to do their bidding. Or store and release latent electrical energy.... Or jump off of and kick missiles....

In mgs gene manipulation has been the basis for super powered soldiers.

Ok that's what I thought, because nanotechnology wasn't used as an explanation in the Big Boss era. People try to write off MGS as a realistic game, usually when they are trying to say The Twin Snakes is bad, but it really isn't, as characters like Psycho Mantis, Vamp, and the Cobra Unit easily prove.

It may not be confirmation, but the video certainly points to some sort of skin ability.

Around the 1:45 mark where the camera starts panning around and goes to her face, you see the skin around her face and eyes changing from a darkened colour to her normal state.

Seriously, the whole design is just dumb. This isn't sexy, it's just boring and really stupid. It's like he was trying to copy a Suda 51 character design, but forgot THAT HE ISN'T SUDA.

You have to have limits somewhere. She probably interacts with other characters in some way, so full nude wouldn't work.

I'm pretty sure having a full-nude model would make the rating AO. If Kojima wanted full-nude women he would have done it in 4, as he originally wanted the Beauty and the Beast Unit to be full nude, but couldn't due to rating issues.

Then again, he did have a full-nude Raiden, so anything's possible I guess.
