Around 2-3 days ago I saw the blue light light up on my 3DS. When I checked it I had a Notification with the name "Notification TEST english", containing the following text:

"Nintendo eShop(USA) notification(en)"

Below it where the two "opt out" buttons, close and Launch Software.

The icon for the notification is the eshop icon and when launching the eshop over the "Launch Software" option, there was no difference...

One of my friends got the same notification.

Does anyone know what it's about, as it seems a little weird for Nintendo to make a "Test" notification. It seems pretty... unprofessional.

Did any of you guys get it? Did only people that put the USA as their country receive it?
Was this all just a big mistake on Nintendo's part? Am I worrying too much?

Well, I wanna hear what you guys think.

I got it two days ago. I was like, "Did Nintendo get glitched?" when I saw the title name. So yeah, it was kinda unprofessional. But it wasn't the worst thing that has happen. And I don't think it's unprofessional they're doing a test. They're just testing, just like the IPS Test in this forum.

Well yeah, but Nintendo is a pretty big company, so it just seemed a little weird...

True, it was a just a little weird. But it's not like they made the Wii and 3DS not be able to use the WiFi features. That would be VERY unprofessional.

IPS didn't just randomly come here to run tests. They came on and did them because I reported an issue, and they could not reproduce it on their own test boards.

I got the notification, too. I bet it's some demographic study in disguise. That, or some poor fellow at Nintendo might have typed up a test message and accidentally clicked the button that sends it out to every 3DS in North America. :P

I got it a while ago, didn't think much of it and just continued with my gaming session. It was most likely just as it said, a test.
