The difference between the Wii U's launch and the PS4's launch is the strength of player networks in the titles, as well as the titles themselves.

 

Everything else is pretty much the same.

I don't know what 'drought' they are talking about.

PS4 has a solid launch line up. It has 7 titles that I find particularly appealing. Can't recall what console had more. For instance, here's the Xbox 360 lauch titles. Just have a look at this list. It's horrible. And PS3 was no better.

Speaking of the Wii U, its start was less impressive that PS4 is going to be IMO.

Post launch drought, just like every console in recent memory. Also, I'm pretty sure most of those titles you're interested in are available on other systems.

Yes, half of them.

There's also a list of games Sony plans to release within the launch window. It's not fantastic but not really bad as well.

nintendo haven't released 12 games on wii u yet have they?

It's not just impossible to que up all your big hitters for a launch, but really stupid.
Nintendo had I think 3 quality titles of theirs ready for launch originally, 1 turned out to be worthless (nintendoland), 1 sold pretty well but didn't garner much real attention (nsmbu), and one was pushed back about 9001 months (pikmin 3).
Meanwhile they were working on perfecting their other confirmed games like mario kart, and working with third parties on things like w101.

As for the 3DS, launching 3 months or more before the eshop was ready kind of proves your point about them needing to think about their software and hardware timing before releasing hardware which relies on that software.

And back to my point, they could spend the 3 years they'll (at least) have spent on smash bros and mario kart incurring losses and not releasing any wii games for their dead console, to have them ready for launch.
This is the part that's insanity. It's not impossible yet, that I'm getting to after I press . next.
Even if they release mario kart and smash bros at launch, what do they do 6 months from then?
There'll be a drought because the initial gleem of those titles is gone.
It's like when people say "there's nothing to play" when they have about 4 games.
The only problem with those 4 games, that makes you say you have nothing to play is that you have already played them and don't feel like playing them more, you want variety really.

So no matter what, people will always say there's a drought.
And there always will be periods of drought when a new hardware launches. It's up to third parties to cap that drought off usually, even on nintendo consoles.

though Sony gamers will deny it right up until it happens and they're right in the middle of it. No system has NOT had a drought in the past twenty years. The last one that didn't was the SNES and ever since then having a crappy first year is just standard. It takes at least a years to get the kinks worked out and oftentimes first year offerings are kind of like tech demos.

we all know EVERY console has a droubt or 2 in its life especially in the first year,thats nothing,BUT having not 1 decent title released in months and months is not exceptable and NOT the norm,thats the wii u im affraid it will pick up a bit soon though which will be nice to see but mk8 is the only must have game to me

I remember having nothing but ridge racer 5 on my ps2 for ages.
It might have been different in the US of course, back then Europe was still being treated like rainbow by all the gaming companies.

nope, that's entirely the norm. See above: most 1st years offerings are basically tech demos. This is nothing new. Get over it.

PS4 is going to be drought haven during this time. Whoever thinks otherwise is going to be in for a rude awakening.

I don't see that the PS4 will have a drought to speak of, certainly not the kind the Wii U has suffered.  Like they said, they have a lot of indie support AND multi-platform games that will actually look and run better than on older platforms (including Wii U).

 

I'm getting PS4 with Watch Dogs (and Drive Club PS+ edition) because I know its the superior version of the game compared to PS360.  You couldn't say that about any of the multi-platform games at launch on Wii U. 

 

I actually bought Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed with my Wii U and ended up trading it for the 360 version.  I rented ZombiU and wasn't that impressed and was REALLY pissed Lego City Undercover got delayed.

 

I just can't see myself having the same disappointment with the PS4 that I had with Wii U.  Because its launching with a must-have game that if nothing else, runs at a higher resolution than if I picked it up on consoles I already own, a big deal for me personally.  Even if the Wii U version comes close to matching it graphically (I doubt it) Sony have trophies, a more established online platform, mandatory HDD (its going to load quicker with less pop-in).

 

I am looking forward to Zelda WW and Mario Kart 8, but nothing so far has come close to fixing the buyers remorse I have for Wii U due to the constant delays of key titles and poor performance of the internal memory on the 32GB Wii U that means I still ended up using external storage for downloads to run faster.  (actually that last thing is probably what bugs me the most)

Are you trying to insult me? First of all when their is a $400 PS4 no ones going to go out and blow a ton on a way more expensive system that can't even play physical games. Second, I am not a fanboy. Do I really need to post a picture of my Xbox 360 collection?
