I've pretty much always been a Nintendo fan. I had a 360, but I hardly ever used it because there's not very many games for it that I like.

But the PS3 actually has exclusives that look really fun; like Sly Cooper,

Ratchet and Clank, LittleBigPlanet, and even Fat Princess. And the fact that it costs less than $200 new and functions as a good Bluray player with wireless and Netflix doesn't hurt.

Thoughts?

Well 3rd party games I tend to play on 360 but ps3 owns with its exclusives.

Uncharted 1 n 2(3rd one sucked IMO), infamous 1 n 2, the last of us(my GOTY this year next to gta5), Metal gear 4, heavy rain, god of war series, kingdom hearts, ico/soc, resistance series and a bunch of indies and other games that I missed lol.

Don't get the $200 ps3. It only comes with 12 gigs and that will be used too quickly.

^This. SO MANY PS3 games have mandatory installs that be as big as 4-5 gigs. 

 

As for the main topic, if you have the cash then go for it. There are some good games on the PS3, and it's exclusives are more appealing (IMO).

I've been wanting to buy a used PS3 myself for quite a while. Unfortunately all my money goes to Wiiu/3ds/games leaving me without any cash left to save for the system.

I intend to buy an old slim off of a friend who needs the money to get a 3DS (I should be able to get it for under $150). I believe it has a 250GB capacity, and I can upgrade the drive if I need to.

 

I really have no intention to get a PS3 with the sliding disk door on top. I was just using it as an example

Thing is, If I cancel my Wind Waker preorder I'll be able to buy I off of him no problem.

If you have the money for another console, I would suggest getting a used slim with at least 160 GB hard drive.  

 

The more important question is whether you have the time to juggle multiple consoles.  I would emphatically NOT cancel your WW console preorder (if that's what you mean).  I would stick with the Wii U, buy fewer games, enjoy them thoroughly, and get in plenty of time elsewhere in your life.  If you already have a Wii U and just meant that you preordered the WW game, I would just say to save the money for Wii U games unless you need a Blu-Ray player (Wii U can do Netflix).

No need to feel unfortunate.  Most people don't have the money for so many systems.  Those who do...I have no idea how they have enough time to get their money's worth.

Mostly I want to use it as a wireless bluray player in order to play Netflix on a TV nowhere near the router. A dedicated player is at least $80, and this will play a few games that I'm interested in (but never tried)

And I didn't get the preorder with the Ganadorf figurine, so my understanding is that it'll be identical to the main retail disk.

If you do get one, pick up the "tales of" games on it. I heard Valkyria chronicles is pretty good too. And maybe Heavy Rain, God of War, Journey and TLOU. I wish I had a PS3...

I would go for it, as long as it's one with a good hard drive. If I got to choose between a 360 and a PS3 now, I would pick the PS3 because there are more games only on PS3 that I want to play (Uncharted, Killzone, MGS4, Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, etc.).

However, if you plan on getting a PS4 anytime soon, don't get a PS3; just use the Gaikai Streaming Service for PS3 games (that's what I will be doing).

Get the gta v bundle. That way you get a big hdd and best game to date  lol

 

I got all the systems but manily play the ps3 since online is free, graphic look better then x360 to me and they got a great line up.

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus hd collection. Probably around 15 bucks at gamespot now.

As soon as you buy it pull the sleeve out from the plastic and turn it to the reversable cover arts.

It's a waste of money in a lot of ways. Basically you're paying the price of a Blu-Ray player and then another $130. You'd be better off getting a PS4, which isn't aging technology.

I'm getting the PS3 for $120 (the friend is desperate). Does that mean Best Buy will pay me $10 to take a Bluray player?

 

And a PS4 is still at least triple the cost, it will take forever for the games I want to come out, and they'll all be $60 or so instead of $20.
