The first LoZ game I ever played was Ocarina of Time on the 3DS. I never grew up with it but I did rather enjoy the game up until the water temple and to this day have not completed the game.

I was curious about the release of Wind Waker HD and want to know if it is good for someone who has only ever played one LoZ game but want to get into the series anyway.

I'm not asking if it's a good game because I know it's great but will I be able to play it?

Yes. Wind Waker is one of the easiest Zelda games. It's very straightforward and easy to learn.

Overall it is easy, yes.  I don't think I died once in my recent play-through on normal mode and I would consider myself to be of average skill when it comes to combat in games, etc.  The temples are not too difficult, either, but you may need to use a guide a couple times if you haven't finished a Zelda game before.

As a complete n00b and probably one of the stupidest and least-skilled-in-video-games people here... It's fine. :D I'm getting through most of it just fine (combat isn't a problem, and platforming/whatever you wanna call it is good, too), but there's been a few puzzles that took me ages to figure out. If you're good with puzzles, it should be a breeze. :P

The OoT Water Temple is notoriously hard. Maybe the hardest in the series.

The dungeons and fights aren't that hard. Most of the difficulty in the game is finding everything in The Great Sea.

You should buy it regardless because it is the greatest game ever made (in my opinion (although anyone who says otherwise is wrong)).

Wind walker has a lot of openness but easy to follow. Imo it's a lil weak compare to some of the zeldas I played but I'm old lol.

But yea I say buy it.

I feel like one of those lucky people who has never gotten stuck on OoT's Water Temple.

I've played Ocarina of Time before but OoT3D was the first time I experienced the Water Temple and also went through it with no help.

Me too. I mean. It was tedious and hard and a little confusing, but for the most part i always knew where to go and what to do. Maybe next time, though, I'll get turned right around and be lost. Lol.

Wind Waker is very friendly to just about everyone.  A newbie will obviously find it a bit more challenging that for those of us that are Zelda veterans, but its in no way shape or form a super difficult game.  What Zelda games do better than just about any other series is give the sense of a true adventure.  You really feel like your on an adventure.

The OoT Water Temple is notoriously hard. Maybe the hardest in the series.

The Stone Tower temple in Majora's Mask was harder, as far as I remember them.
