A bear had eaten Lavoie's food and destroyed his boat in mid-July, leaving him alone with the dog.
A few days after the bear attack, the person who spoke to QMI on condition of anonymity said Lavoie used a rock to kill his dog before eating the pet.

of course, a few days? Nah. Nah. Maybe after like 2-3 weeks (assuming I live that long) sure.

I don't think it said anywhere in that article that the dog saved him from the bear attack unless you mean the survival expert saying that he survived because he ate the dog, after the bear took his food.

You can go at least seven days without food. What I'm wondering is what he was doing way out nowhere without a means a calling for help, and did he follow proper preparations to prevent bears from getting at his food?
And doesn't he know how to hunt or fish?

The article also never said that it was three days. It said a few days(More than a couple less than a dozen) and it was a second-hand account not his own. That said the article also stated that he shouldn't have gone out alone so it's not like they're saying he did nothing wrong.

No, the best way to survive would be to not go to the middle of nowhere without the proper preparations to survive without having to eat your dog. Heck, even as a kid I've had drilled into me the dangers of keeping food where bears could find it, and they have shown us coolers ripped to shreds by a bear that wanted a taste of schnitzel.
I mean sure, getting away from it all has it's attraction, but when you're going to where the wildlife play you should be prepared in case things don't go to plan.
But he survived. Yay, let's declare him a warrior and put him in front of a camera.
I agree with you partially. I don't think he should have gone that deep into a forest without means of communications. But if he survived for 3 months, he probably had something that he used to survive, like a survival kit or something. He was probably camping in a tent and had his food in the tent when the the bear attacked. Still, I think it is kind of irresponsible on his part to go camping without any means of communication and alone. Currently he is hospitalized according to the article, and is in "very serious" condition. I'm sure that if he survives, he will learn a valuable lesson.

You are right. Zinix must have read the article wrong. The article said nothing about the dog actually saving the man from the bear.

You know what I would have done? Train the dog to hunt so he can find you food, it's a win win situation for them both! They both live!
