I think the next gimmick of the Mario Kart series will be jet skis on water, and you can choose if you want a submarine, a jet ski or just a regular kart like in Mario Kart 7. What do you think will be the next gimmick or new idea introduced in Mario Kart 9?

i liked Double Dash. That had an awesome gimmick. And when you completed the game you got to drive the trophy car which was awesome.

Speed boost launches you into the air and your wings or propeller (depending on size or weight of kart) springs out and you take part in the sky racing track.

There will be no gimmick for the next Mario Kart. Mario Kart comes up with good ideas that are actually interesting, not gimmicks.

Haven`t played all Mario Kart games, but having these novelties is always better than just having more onlne functions added to the game. Something that can actually change how you play is more than welcome!

No, not really. Gravity tracks are definitely gimmicks, considering they don't affect how the game plays at all. It's just an aesthetic change. A special feature for the sake of having a special feature, therefore a gimmick.

It may not seem like it, but it DOES affect the how the game plays. The physics engine has to be reprogrammed to understand "down" is relative.

One change it makes is that crashing into others when upside down speeds you up instead of slowing you down.

I just want them to bring back the double dash mechanic. My brother and I played the crap out of that game, more than any other MK. If they also made it so I could team up online with my brother to tdo both online and regular grand prix, we would play it so much.
