It was a great ND, but it had the slight problem of appealing to everyone. Everyone got something, but not huge megatons like were hyped. I enjoyed it. Besides, we got Steel Diver: Sub Wars!

Some people always have a cellphone on them. I'm so awesome I always have a 3DS.

The direct was worse than I expected and I had NO expectations of this being a great direct at all.

*reads rest of your post*

They should have breezed over the 3DS titles as quickly as possible with a montage clip and concentrated on Wii U titles such as X, Bayo 2, Hyrule Warriors, Zelda U, Smash Bros (with at least three newcomers not just little Mac), hell even that Sonic Lost World DLC. There should have been more on Fast Racing Neo, Project CARS, and Mario Kart really should have announced a Smash Kart megaton if they were adding extra characters people cared about.Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze should have been introduced by someone from Retro wearing a Samus pin in their outfit hinting that Retro are busy working on their next game, but until then enjoy this new Donkey Kong Trailer. There's basically NOTHING for Wii U this Spring apart from Mario Kart, and I don't see this direct helping sales AT ALL. Hell if Zelda U didn't get any screen time, show off Yarn Yoshi, or announce a Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon HD.

Seriously Nintendo, sort your carp out. No wonder they delayed because they know that 2014 is another drought year with games only coming after E3, and some may even get delayed!

I'm pretty sure you did, actually. Especially when you expected Zelda U to be shown. This isn't E3 or anything.

Huh. The mech lost its left arm in the battle. Interesting. And then it permanantly lost the use of 2 abilities from its hot bar...Bet thats going to be expensive to fix.

I know you pay close attention to this game, do you rember any English being displayed in the past vids. I noticed some in this. Hoping the translation has begun.

No, translation hasnt begun, there is always english in Japanese games, though its usually not contextually accurate, things like 'Huge succeeded'. For some reason using out of place english words is 'cool' in Japan.

Judging from what Ive seen, the fact this is once again, in the same area as every other video, the placeholder ui, the fake character portraits (the portraits dont actually match the team members playing) Id say Nintendo is SERIOUSLY going out of their way to avoid any manner of spoilers on this game,or this game is nowhere near being close to feature complete. To the extent of, those 'player' character models and party members are place holders and wont even be used in the final game, that extends to the animations, and the user interface.

I am leaning more towards the latter considering Monolith softs continuing urgent hiring spree:

Programmer
Planner Urgent!
3DCG designers Urgent!
2D designers
Effects designer
Motion designer Urgent!
Project manager

Like Xenoblades first screens when it was still called monado, I would expect a LOT of what you have seen to change drastically, from the time the framework of the game becomes 'feature complete', and they then start replacing all the placeholder stuff that only served a functional purpose, with the final polished assets.

Oh, There is a large craft behind the battle, however, labeled 'United States' with an American flag on it.

It was a great ND, but it had the slight problem of appealing to everyone. Everyone got something, but not huge megatons like were hyped. I enjoyed it. Besides, we got Steel Diver: Sub Wars!

Every. Single. THing. that was 'hyped' was shown.

Soraya Saga retweeted, hyped that X would be shown, X was shown.

Platinum games retweeted, hyped that bayo 2 would be shown, bayo 2 was shown.

Sakurai retweeted, hyped a new character unveil would be shown, fricking AMAZING Newcomer was shown. Hell yes. Mac is DEFINATELY going to join my stable of non highly repetitive everyone else uses the same characters BS mains, right next to Samus and Zelda.

If you havent noticed, these same idiots complaining, are ALWAYS the same idiots complaining, regaurdless of whether times are good, OR bad.

Hell we have one guy complaining, after we were shown new X, NEW bayo 2, NEW mk8, NEW smash bros.... Because we didnt get A LUIGIS MANSIONDARK MOON PORT TO WII U.

That is completely moronic in every sense of any possible way of thinking.

What I meant is that like January 2013 they should have blown us all away. Last January I had less than zero expectations for the Wii U, and because of January Direct I bought a Wii U.

This february I had low expectations as it was stated to be an ordinary direct, but really they SHOULD have blown us all away with a similar show to that of January 2013.

I'm sorry but we Nintendo fans just take it from behind by Iwata, and we don't complain (unless Pokemon Bank should be delayed then Nintendo fanboys/girls go NUTS!/facepalm)

Our standards of expectations should always be high, because Nintendo at the end of the day do have a record of producing high quality products, and at the moment they seem to just be doing what they want and expecting us to like it - or else.

This direct was filled with sub standard products for the most part, 3DS games that no-one wants to buy apart from possibly Kirby Triple Deluxe, and possibly Professor Layton and the only redeeming thing about it was that they had some gameplay footage of X with still no indication of release date, especially when everything shown was "supposed" to be for Spring. It was a sub-standard performance even for an average direct. Especially after some intriguing news from the investors meeting - it showed NO promise in altering Nintendo's strategy, and indicated little to no care for their home console. 7 minutes out of 41 ISN'T good enough. There should have been more equal footing. I'm sorry but while I love Nintendo and the Wii U, this direct, even for a standard one was a very poor show indeed.

I'd prefer Directs in the future to be less frequent, but more prominent, because most Nintendo Directs seem to be utterly pointless with no reason to exist.

I do wonder if the same droughts that plagued the Wii U last year will plague the Wii U this year?

It certainly looks like it.

We have another 2d platformer now. Which, if you didnt want 2d platformers then isnt going to make a difference.

You have indies, which is great, they got the gamepolay and design, but they arent powerful enough yet (unless say, someone with the money to make big games gave them the funding to make a big game... ahem, nintendo) to make a game big enough to stand up to retail releases of anything ps2 era or beyond. They are great snacks, but leave you hungry shortly afterwards.

You have mk8, which is what, end of april? And then nothing is known for anything else.

Honestly, Im ok with tht, as long as they keep me updated, as long as I am just fed enough info, a screenshot here, a video there, an interview with the team. But complete and absolute silence, is horrible.

The reason Im okay with that, is because this has been my existance for a very, very, long time. This last generation has ben complete and absolute crap for me. The games have become completely homogenous, the 'gameplay' has become insulting, like assasins creed (lampshaded enough in ac4, only because of the naval aspect)... To the point, that I have been starving between releases for over seven years now.

With most of the things worth my time ending up on the wii, or portable systems, as they are more prone to risk taking, and everything else, of course, on PC, like say, minecraft. ps360 has been a barren wasteland, with the occasional rare gem littered along the roadside.

Now, I just have nothing but barren wastelands, with the only gem in sight miles upon miles down the road.

To me, the main problema about this ND was that Wii U will remain in a bad situation and Nintendo really isn`t doing anything or can`t.

Between Dk and Mario Kart it`s almost 3 months in between with just eshop offerings: Child of Light, NES Remix 2, some VC games and some Indie games.

The VC games are a good bonus but they aren`t going to sell consoles. No eshop title will.
Still can`t understand how it took Nintendo more than one year to start bringing GBA title to the VC. How long will we have to wait for DS games?

And when you look beyond things aren`t that great either.
Smash is obviously releasing in the Holidays. In Japan, Hyrule Warriors is slated for Summer but not in US or EU. It appears the same goes for Bayonetta 2.

SMTxFE is nowhere to be seen. Yoshi, the same.

I just hope Nintendo doesn`t start releasing games on a monthly basis from September onwards and leave June, July, August with barely nothing.

Oh, man...
I sincerely hope not.

Honestly, when Iwata mentioned streamlining software production or whatever he mentioned, i was afraid of the idea. Now, i can only imagine how great a line-up woud be if all games shown yesterday were coming for both consoles!

End of all droughts and diversity to choose from.

I am now a supporter of streamlining software for both HW devices!

Look at the player names. Like the X vids just placeholders and even the hud is different. Battle system is not close the final product. So as was mentioned X vids show a game with a ways to go.

For reference here is the final game. Had more graphical polish as well.

Ok so I will buy 'X' whenever it comes out but why big swords again?

If ya got big mech robot things then why bother landing and getting out to kill them?

As for the direct time scale it's pretty clear Nintendo don't seem to bothered about WiiU.

Really hope everyone has either a PS4 or PC to game on.

been gaming on my PC almost exclusivily for the past month.

I enjoyed it enough. I'm not expecting E3  level of content every nintendo direct. if they gave us all the info we wanted, it'd be hard to follow up on the other directs.

Was reading the press releases for the ND, from NOE and NOAustralia and found something interesting.

This is what they had to say about Smash Brothers:

"Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: With Super Smash Bros. launching in stores and on Nintendo eShop for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in 2014"

And then, they say this about bayonetta 2:

"Bayonetta 2 is coming to Wii U later this year."

So they kinda reveal the period B2 is coming out, but they don`t do the same for Smash?

Either Smash is a handfull to them or they are actually releasing it before B2. If that is the case, what could Nintendo have planned for the holiday season?
