Okay what are your thoughts on the FPS genre? Also what are your thoughts about them growing?

I think that some of them are decent and relatively fun, but I'm not a huge fan. I prefer games where you can actually see your character properly, rather than just their arms and weapon. I'll happily play them with friends, but I'm unlikely to spend much money on one.

But more seriously, I don't really play fps's. My brother had a 007 game for the Gamecube that I played. It was good for multiplayer.

I Like them there fun games. They are not my favorite bit there are still fun. However I wish the single player campaigns weren't so short.

First Person Shooters can be great, but I feel that lately the quality has been going down. There's just so much emphasis on customisation and striving to be MVP, that it just doesn't feel like the teamwork is there anymore. Even the core elements are starting to be shadowed by the additional effects, and that's just plain wrong.

Among other things, single player campaigns are so lacking in experience, that most of them get the once over and never again. A poor campaign will do that, and it's happening all too frequently. The only thing that keeps people coming back are Trophies/Achievements. There's never any secret paths, taking different directions, no diversity. FPS games are way too linear for their type.

Mainstream. That's all that FPS has going for it.

Auzzie pretty much stated my opinion on the matter.

Yes, they are fun for awhile, but they get old eventually, then the only replay value is online (which I do not care much for) and achievements.

Eh... they can be fun, but none of them are too compelling. The 3rd person/1st person view switch was actually the major selling point of Skyrim for me.
They always feel too restricting. They should follow Skyrim and Zelda's viewpoint examples.
