Because everyone is changing names so frequently, I can barely keep track of who changes their names because they change them all of the time. I suggest a limit in which a user can only change names a maximum limit of time. This way, users can't just change their name all of the time and have to stick with one name.

I don't think there should be an overall limit, but a time.

Say you want to change your name, so you do. The next day, you want to change it again. Nope. Not today. You must wait a month (for the sake of the example) before you can change it again.

I agree with jumbo worm, once in a while is fine as long as its not three times a week. Keeping track with people who did is kind of difficult. But keeping track with people who do it three times a week is imposible. Thats why i thought about my name before just randomly putting it in. And you never know when a good new game or show comes out that you want to change your name to a character in that show or game, but you have run out of naming oportunities

There already is a limit, a maximum of 3 Name changes in a 3 day period.

Actually, it's a 30 day limit. I'm stuck as Link until the 15th or 16th(not sure which).

I mean, changing your name permanently. You shouldn't be able to change your name 3 times in a 30 day limit. You should choose a username and stick with it. If you have changed your name 3 times, your done your stuck with that name. It will be better for the forum, so we can tell which user is actually posting without any confusion.

Yes, it is disorienting for people when display names are changed a lot. Of course, people are entitled to whatever freedoms they wish if it's been allowed.

I mean, there's got to be 700 links on this site already, right?

I always had this username, and yes I agree. You shouldn't be able to change your name.

Okay, I do think that people should be free to change their display names to their liking to go with their changing interests. Red Link, what if you decided you like Blue Link more? superdarkyoshi, what if you decided to take on a form that you liked more, oh Golden Albino Wizard? However, I will agree that these mass name/avatar changing events are a recipe for confusion. If just one person changes their name/avatar every now and then, I think we can live. However, with everyone changing their name I have found myself confused once or twice.

I've changed the limit to 1 name change every 30 days. Would you say that's more reasonable? Keep in mind that you can always view someone's name change history from their profile - so if you see an unfamiliar name with 400 posts, check that - you just might know the person after all.

I'm not going to take away the ability to change your name entirely, as I personally believe you shouldn't be stuck with one name on a site forever. I myself have gone through 3 names before finally settling on "Feld0".
