And once again... Link as a name has always been associated with the male character.

If they really want a female protagonist, fine. Just don't name her "link" as it's pretty stupid to do so.

In all of the games and even in cartoons, Link is a dude. And it's not a feminine name either. You can argue it's neutral, but it sounds more masculine than anything.

And the "dude raider" supports my point. Same kind of game. Different gender, different character.

Changing a traditional male character to a chick in the make characters ip is just a stunt. And might garner quick attention but later on everyone will just hope it goes away and the "real" character returns.

Lara croft is an actual individual person.

Thor is the name of whatever being holds Mjolner, and is deemed worthy of the Power of Thor. Thor Odinson is just one of many, many, many Marvel Thor incarnations over the years.



Link is called link because it is a 'Link' between the game and the player.

Zelda NES original concept was Assasins Creed in that 3 computer chips would act as the triforce and Links adventures were more of a Link to the past through the player in the future or present. Link isn't really his name it is but isn't. The adventures be like memories. The idea was scrapped for a variety of reasons one being Shiggy wanted a more traditional fantasy setting and also could be they already had a science fiction game being released called Metroid. Link is not actually his name but used in Smash and HW to identify him. Link can be named whoever. He's linked to Zelda and the Triforce and the Player. More of a pun.

Aware of both. And the only thing making petty whining sounds is your attempt to stifle discussion that may differ from your view. But nothing new there. That's what forums are for.

Of course, you could change the name as it offerer end customization, but that is the default NAME. And Link is a dude. Should remain a dude.

Chick Thor will bee short lived as well. Stupid idea that makes zero sense. Just an attention grab.

Actually, I did know and it was a very brief...ATTENTION GRAB. But the title wasn't taken over by the woman.

So as much as you kick and scream, it doesn't make it any more sensible.

And it would be better off to separate the real Thor from the new chick version.

And link is obviously a dual purpose. It was used as. A link between the player and game character much like any other "player 1" etc name is used. But it's still the heroes name.

The cartoons also got Zelda, Mario, and luigi down, so they has link right as well.
