Wish they pulled the trigger. IMO would love a female Link and this design is perfect. Not sexualized just where is should be.

Cool.

Though personally, I dont see the need for a different outfit design at all (Referring to the altering of the heros tunic into a skirt, over knee stripper boots, and open front flowy blouse to make sure we can see girlinks thighs and boobs.)

Just give her the iconic heros tunic.

Kinda how I always imagined a female Link to look like and it's pretty awesome. But they shouldn't use this in canon games.

No sig.

I don't see a need for female link in a canon game when you already have zelda.

How is that relevant?

There is no need. The line of the hero just happened to have a female at the time of the impending disaster.

There is no Canon about the line of the hero needing to be male. They simply need to have inherited the unbreakable spirit of the hero.

Also, Zelda can not be a love interest for Link in any game other than Skyward Sword, because that would be called incest, and thats a no no.

It's not a love story anway. I am all for a female Link to be the hero.

Hell could be Zelda disguised as Link to save the Kingdom in some other type of story.

That would be cool.
The master sword is reserved for the posessor of the triforce of courage. While Zelda could earn the triforce of courage like link does, I think it would be more interesting to see in that some other type of story what legendary weapon is reserved for the posessor of the triforce of wisdom. (Not light arrows, been there done that, thats an aquired item, not legendary sword find.)

I just like Link as a guy, is that so wrong?

Every time I say this I get called a misogynistic sexist Mcguffin. Thanks for at least not doing that to me.

Yeah I would prefer Link to be male as well. I just don't see how making him female would change the game in any way other than to be politically correct or to support feminism or whatever?

I suppose I wouldn't mind an option, since Link is apparently supposed to be an extension of the player but then we end up with Zelda becoming an RPG if we start adding all of these elements.

It doesnt need to have a reason, and it shouldnt change the game in any way Thats the whole point. It just happens to be.

Just like you want to play as link as a male, there should be an option for people to play as a female, particularly since link is just an avatar.

Technically... ALL games are role playing games.

Well fine, add in an option to play as male or female. Just don't force me to play as a female link unless it changes the story or gameplay significantly.

Cool concept.

But links always been a dude.

And should always remain a dude.

What's next? A male Lara croft?

Sheesh.

No he wouldn't because is slap him around for insulating I meant a Lara croft type of character.

I specifically said a male Lara Croft. As in changing Lara croft into a dude named... Lara croft... In a game called Tomb Raider. Not a similar type of game or character, thanks.

There is a girl named Thor and in that pic a chick with the same name as a male link.

Try to keep up.

I know exactly what you meant. It was a joke about how Uncharted was called Dude Raider by everyone when it was first announced, and how the two characters do basically the same things.

There's not much reason why Link couldn't be a girl other than tradition. Lara is predominantly a female name, so they obviously couldn't name a dude Lara. They could make the main character of a Tomb Raider game a dude with the same personality as Lara and it would be fine. I have never even heard of someone named Link outside of Zelda, and there is nothing about his character or his actions that are exclusively male (other than the kiss at the end of Zelda 2, but that's a different Link than the one from Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Minish Cap, etc.).

I think a female Link would be named Linda 'cause it's similar to Linka :P

And a male Zelda would be named Shiek XD

And once again... Link as a name has always been associated with the male character.

If they really want a female protagonist, fine. Just don't name her "link" as it's pretty stupid to do so.

In all of the games and even in cartoons, Link is a dude. And it's not a feminine name either. You can argue it's neutral, but it sounds more masculine than anything.

*waits for butch feminists to start flame ware about not needing femininity*

And the "dude raider" supports my point. Same kind of game. Different gender, different character.

Changing a traditional male character to a chick in the make characters ip is just a stunt. And might garner quick attention but later on everyone will just hope it goes away and the "real" character returns.

Seeing as no Link is ever the same Link, I could hardly care if Link were ever a girl.  I can at least understand the arguments against calling female-Thor Thor.

Sort of like how Link in ALTP is a chubby kid with pink hair and not the blond hero Link.

Don't get me wrong, though.  A rule 63 universe is just stupid.  Gender switches on all characters would be stupid and uncreative as hell.
