Judging from the leaked photos and what "supposedly" are gonna be the new features, I'm most excited for the return of the classic start menu :D

Oh, and there's rumors that Microsoft might make this a free update... maybe.

So what do you guys think?

i recently got Windows 8. Within a day I was perfectly used to no start menu. People made a huge deal out of nothing.

Now the hand-holding, that's started to tick me the heck off.

Windows 7 is the best :)

My laptop came with Windows 8... I got used to it though (most of the desktop menus are basically the same as they are in 7 which I like)

Meh. Unless they mix Windows 7 and Windows 8 well, without getting rid of too much of Windows 8. They did way too much back tracking, I don't want the start menu back, at least in the classical sense, they need to find a balence.

So you think that having a start menu that takes up the whole screen is a better way to go?

I am still on W7, and unless every game starts coming out in DX12 only i doubt i will be upgrading to W9 any time soon, no real need to at present.

Off the top of my head, there's some really obnoxious tutorial popups that show you how to use W8's gestures.

But to be honest I don't see much of a difference myself. I have my most used apps (firefox and file explorer) pinned to the taskbar, and whenever I need anything else It's just a quick trip through the start page. The proper start menu will help out however.

I'm talking about:

"Oh you're trying to copy your own files from one part of your computer to another as an administrator? You're going to need administrator permission for that!"

And also"We personally think your volume is too loud, and since we apparently are your parents have decided to automatically apply a limiter to your computer that you can turn off! Say goodbye to your dynamic range! :) "

You people have no idea lol

I don't remember seeing any tutorials other than the one they give you when you first set up the computer.

Um when does that happen? Never had those problems before...

Windows XP, kids will never know the pain of internet explorer and all the lag and random crashing :)

But did you use Bob? Bob is before XP

No, I didn't use Bob :(

I'm going to assume it's just a new update for Windows 8.

I'm still on Windows 7 but there have been ways to get a start menu and for it to default to the desktop instead of the new Metro UI so I guess it wouldn't be that big a deal to switch but I'm in no hurry. Maybe when I upgrade my PC I'll switch but who knows when that will be.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

Yeah if you have 7 I don't think there's a point... but if you're still on Vista or XP... might need to start upgrading lol.

Not mine. Just know Windowsblinds is a software lets you install skins. I used to use WB back in the day when I had XP. They may still be around. I just don't use skins since I got W7

Oh cool! I'll have a look into it, thanks!
