I started with OG PP in the Ultimateverse. Feel the need to read everything tying into USM, though that's a bit of a task.

And since I'm necrobumping, time to mention the Flash Sale going on at Comixology right now!

 

I'm picking up all the collections(that are on sale) because I'm  not as familiar with the flash as I should be and I really, REALLY loved the Pilot for the show. Figured it couldn't hurt.

On the other hand just read the newest installment of Ultimate Comics Spiderman, and I can definitely say it's my favourite comics right now. My only two complaints is that issues are too short and it takes too long between each one

That's one of the big issues with Bendis being Marvel's Golden boy. He's too busy to the stuff he EXCEls at and he's given roles he DOESN'T excel at(GotG and if things happen, probably Inhumans/Doc Strange)

 

Also, Stealth Edit: WHY WYDRA. WHY YOU NO LIKE FF. Have you not read the Hickman run? Soooo good

My problem with FF isn't simply the fact that's it's FF. I'm more of a fan of comics that aren't sensationalist, that focus more on the interaction of characters, and who fight small scale villains who don't have the ridiculous idea of "taking over earth" etc. This applies to Teen titans, Batman, Spiderman, the flash and a lot of my other favourite comics. I cannot say the same for FF. Every time I've picked it up, the whole world is in danger from alien threat. Literally every single time I've tried to give it a chance it's sensationalist "we have to save the universe" stuff. I don't mind others liking that stuff, and even can get behind it myself if it's occasional, but to me if you're saving the world every other weekend, it kind of takes away from the awe of actually saving the world. It become just another one of those times and starts to feel like a poor plot device to me.

I haven't actually read much (Hickman run included in the "haven't read category) so it's possible I've just gotten unlucky with my picks.

I am bumping this thread. What with Marvel's new Star Wars series, both DC and Marvel reboots, and some user interest, this doesn't seem like a bad idea.

To kick off some discussion, I followed the Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Son of Dathomir(SoD) from Dark Horse last year. I am currently reading Marvel's Star Wars: Kanan: The Last Padawan. I plan on getting Star Wars: Lando #1 and Star Wars #7 this month and the Volume 1 TPBs for the other Marvel Star Wars series as they release. If that means anything.

Any thoughts on the DC and Marvel reboots? I'm interested in Marvel's new Avengers, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Ms. Marvel series. Of course, I'll probably just follow Avengers because of the multiple characters and my lack of money. I do however, plan on buying the Ms. Marvel Volume 1 TPB soon, given I've heard such good things.

So after my mega-post, someone needs to reply to this thread so I don't look stupid? ;D

I only just recently finished Superior Spider-Man and have started Amazing Spider-Man volume 3, I really want to read more pf Silk.

I love the new direction Marvel is going in and I can't wait to see more of Miles Morales!

Marvel's thing isn't really a reboot though. Reboot to me implies new continuity, which the Post SW Universe isn't

 

Portal, if you're interested, I can give you the digital codes for the books you're interested that you might not afford when the All New Relaunch happens(Namely Ms. Marvel/ASM/SM, as I'm going to be reading them as well and I have little use for the Digital codes.) .

 

I only just recently finished Superior Spider-Man and have started Amazing Spider-Man volume 3, I really want to read more pf Silk.

What did you think of Superior? I'm in the middle of a reread of it and I'm liking it a lot more the second time around.

 

Miles Morales is honestly going to be amazing in the 616. Him and the Maker are the only good remaining parts of the Ultimate Universe.

 

As for my reads, I'm finally near a physical comic shop, so YAY! I've been reading Secret Wars because Based Hickman and this may be the best Marvel event in ages. Renew Your Vows, A-Force, the mainline book, Infinity Gauntlet, etc.

Picked up a copy of Batman #41 today. First Batman comic I've read. All my Batman generally comes from pop culture and what I've seen of the DCAU and various other TV shows. I REALLY enjoyed it! It had great length, great art, dialogue, and was a REALLY easy jumping on point. Pretty much Batman's dead, here's an energy monster, and here's a few flashbacks to set up the new Batman. I only intended on reading #41, but I'll definitely read this volume. It's so interesting!

Batman #41 is the one with Mecha Bunny Batman, right? I need to pick that up when I get the chance, especially since Snyder's done such a good job with his previous Nu52 Batman work. If you get the chance, I reccomend reading all the Mainline Batman books from the Nu52. Court of Owls is honestly amazing.

Spiderman was basically the only consistently good thing the Ultimate Universe produced. We got Incest in the Avengers FFS

My comments on The-Man-Who-Dresses-like-a-Bat from above remain true. I've never really been a Superman guy(Though I have enjoyed several of his stuff). The new series sounds at least interesting, especially with the 3 books running one arc but different timing and such. I picked up Starfire #1 and it's decent. I enjoy the art and it's nice to see Starfire not being what she was in the Nu52

Mainline Batman volumes, got it. I'll see if I can't pick up the first one next month. I find it funny that a year or two ago I didn't buy too many books, and now I'm trying to figure out to read all these different ones.

Random comics update. I bought the Fury's Big Week trade for my dad's b-day, and Batman #42 for myself.

I was surprised by the length and price of Batman. $4.99 again, but it also felt twice as long as Kanan, so I guess I'm alright with it. I really liked how it's such a great jumping on point. I mean, my brother gets a few references since he's watched so much of the DCAU, but I can just as easily enjoy simply thinking "New villain making superpowers? Cool."
