Well, hot buttah'd popcorn, I've written this post a few times already and accidentally deleted it every time. ;_; So I'll make this quick! Welcome to the Wii U Forums EDM (Electronic Dance Music) production and appreciation thread! This thread will serve two purposes: for the producers of the forums to showcase and discuss their work, and for the EDM lovers to share their favorite songs.

 

Let's establish just a couple rules: This thread is meant to lean more on the producers' side, so try not to flood the thread with others' music. Only post your absolute favorite songs. This should keep the thread tidy, and won't deter those who just want to come have a taste of EDM. Label songs as vocal if they have lyrics, and try to keep said lyrics clean. If you absolutely must post a song with inappropriate lyrics, make sure you label it accordingly. Now, let's get started!

 

If you're an EDM producer, post a link to your Soundcloud, YouTube, or what have you, and I'll add it to this post!

Ohhh, you're talking about me brickfilm channel? Kk, I thought you were confusing me for someone else. I've thought about it, I even started recording a pseudo let's play of Skyward Sword with my sister, where she would play and we would both talk about it. But really, I'm no good at talking, and I don't have the tools to really get into it.

Choosing the right samples, tweaking your synths right is the number one rule. Then comes good EQing, compression and lastly you should master your songs well but don't use a multiband compressor unless you know what you're doing.

 

Despite edmprodcirclejerk, I actually compress as much as I can. It sounds like shiet otherwise cause I can't mix well.

Yeah... All sounds good. And yeah, I could probably stand to put a little more compression on my songs... I've been brainwashed out of it though, what with all the armchair pros telling you to avoid over-compression like the plague. And man, my earlier songs were rife with brick-wall compression from FL's limiter. e_o

Hey Matrix, you got any tips for producing Glitch Hop? I kinda like, don't get the same feeling in my tests as you do. My growls/base hits on the first beat doesn't fit in. Maybe the sidechain is too strong or I need to do a different sound design on the base hit? And also, for the lead, I currently use subtractive synthesis to make them but maybe I should use wavetable or FM instead?

 

Chaos! Let me remix or collab one of your songs! Just for fun! I like your melodies n stuff, so I wonder how they would sound like with my sound design and arrangements.
