Yeah, this was mentioned a while ago in another topic, and I don't see why anyone would reject having them on the Wii U.

I heard that the agreement meant that Devs. have Havok and Autodesk for Wii U right out of the box when you get a Wii U dev kit.

It's like saying "Do you want the best people to work with the WiiU." Or do you want crappy people doing these jobs.

Really good move by nintendo. They really are trying to get third parties to support them this time...now only if people actually go and buy non-nintendo games

The original Metroid Prime used Havok, it's pretty much been industry middleware standard physics for years.

They're engines/middleware.
They don't really help developers, in the sense of "hey here let me sit down with you and help you code this up".
They do help make programming easier, and Nintendo giving them to all Wii U developers when they register for their devkit is a big help to the smaller companies who might not have the money to buy havok, or the autodesk package to go along with the devkit.

But a question I have is it only free if your making the game for the wiiu or is it free for all consoles since if it is that very exploitable devs could say their making a wiiu game just to get this expensive software free make a crap game than use the software on the other consoles and not even bother making games for the wiiu just exploiting this partnership.

I wouldn't call it exploitable, the licenses come with the devkit for the wii u, so you're already paying an arm and a leg for it.
And Nintendo are very strict on who they sell devkits to.

But wouldn't that be defeating the purpose of the deal if they are strict to who they sell devkits to considering most major companies probably already have all this software as it been used many times on xbox360 and ps3 so unless you need a license for each system your working on this would really only help the less known devs.

mehh i would be far more interested in a partnership with the people that make the euphoria engine just seems way more realistic.

Incase anyone is unaware of the engine its the same one that grand theft auto 4 uses to provide natural motion

Yeah, EA and Ubi will be making games for the Wii U anyway, because another platform = more money.
Smaller devs like High Voltage want to make good games, but might not have the financial backing to buy all the tools they want.
It's a great opportunity.

And what I meant specifically by Nintendo's terms in selling devkits was they have so many licenses, and contracts.
You can't strictly collaborate without the collaborator being a part of your business etc.
It's not down to them saying "You're not good enough", it's that it's serious business.
