Retro is officially a Nintendo studio now right? So this could only mean these persons will work on a Nintendo game. Well, I don't knkow them, but someone from Disney HAS to be good I guess. Retro is really working on something big I believe.

Nope, they're a fully owned subsidiary of Nintendo, like Intelligent Systems, therefore they are first party.

Well a Naught Dog Dev, Vigil Games Dev, Sucker Punch/Zipper interactive dev, a Gearbox Dev, and a Disney interactive dev. This could mean something good, but who knows. But it is nice to see Retro hiring people as a lot of game companies are closing down especially with the recent closing of Zipper Interactive.

Here's what I think they're doing at Retro:

Brad Taylor - Lighting, and texture work
Timothy Wilson - Backgrounds
Aaron Black - Level design

You can probably see how I came to those conclusions.

man, is anyone else sort of disappointed about the timing on this, though? I was desperately hoping that Retro would have something spectacular ready for the system's launch... this seems like team-building, which is awesome for the future, but sheds some doubt on the state of Retro's current activity. I sure hope that a core team, at least, has been diligently plugging away at an epic masterpiece for the last few years...

I agree with you. So far I looks like the Wii u will launch with titles that will already be on other platforms prior to it's release. It seems like most of the 1st party titles are still in development. I can only hope that for the last few years nintendo has been cooking up masterpiece to launch with the Wii U.
