Feld0 mentioned that warning points are only to be seen by the user and the admins.
It's a private thing that should stay that way. Besides, if someone is trolling, we will know.

Why?
Because it's stupid to make bans and private moderator-level board information public.

If someone has multiple warnings for trolling or making fun of users so much as to make something like this worthwhile, they'd be more likely to get a short ban than go about something like this.

As Feld0 said in the other thread, warnings are a private matter between staff and the concerned members. If there is a troll, there's a good chance you'll have noticed it already. The problem with revealing other members' warning points is that it can lead to members assuming someone is a troll when it could easily be for something they did months ago.

It's funny how 3dsforums.com members are so worried about trolls.
What's up with you guys?
Calm the hell down.
The mods here will take care of them, they know what they're doing.
Other places are more sporadic, allow trolling because they're friends or they think it's fun then when it's no longer fun they decide to get rid of them.
It's different here.

I don't think that warning points should be public, but I don't think there should be a rule that prevents users from talking about them.
If you want to shout out how many warning points you have, it makes you seem more like an attention grabber or like you are perfect., but it shouldn't be against the rules.

I know, I know - warning point are supposed to be private, right?

But I thing it would be good if warning points for a few select things (mainly trolling) would be publicly displayed below someone's name for a set time, say a few days or a week. I think it would work as a good heads up for us when someone's been regularly trolling or just making mean comments. Like you see an offensive comment, and then notice that the poster's got a few warning points in the last few days for trolling or making fun of other users - then you think "oh, this guy's probably just trying to get us angry - I'm not going to fall for that!".

I had a similar idea on the 3DSforums. The idea wasn't to say what the user did above their, but just have a symbol on a post if the post writer received an infraction/warning for said post.

But I think at the end of the day, it's not a big deal.

I had one, now It's not showing up, I'm not sure if that's because someone expired it, or they re-hid them from the user.
