That, and I'd rather see an N64-era color scheme for the console.

I no it shouldnt but if it looks like a wii, people may stupidily think its wii, its a stratagy purely to sell systems to new nintendo users, plus 2 colours wouldnt hurt, when they released a black wii they sold millions of units so why not start off like that?I'm fairly sure that a console being white isn't going to make people not want it, unless they didn't want it in the first place.

You failed to mention how whenever the black Wii was released, it came with two other games and another $50 price cut.
But I do agree that the system itself could use a slight redesign, it does look rather similar to the Wii.

It's not necessarily that black = hardcore, but just the fact that the Wii was considered a 'happy' 'kiddy' 'casual' console and it happened to be white, a pure color. If they did the exact opposite and made this one black, it would just further push the Wii U in a different direction which is what Nintendo seems to be wanting to do anyway.
Basically, you would have to understand the nuances of marketing and business to understand why the color of your product would matter.

It didn't matter what color the 360 was because there last console (OG Xbox) didn't have a stigma for being a 'casual' console. At the end of the day the color obviously won't determine what kind of console it is or how good it is, but it's a marketing thing, and Nintendo has been saying things about how this console is supposed to be for "hardcore" gamers. At launch didnt the Xbox 360 only come in one color too? The Xbox 360 is what they call "Hardcore" and is mainly white.

In my honest opinion I think you guys want it Black because you don't have to worry about cleaning it as much as the White version.
Actually, I want a black Wii U so it would match with my multimedia living room set. It's ALL black!

This kind of styles turn me on more than the plain black or plain white.. Not just the military styles.. but something more... different.. I would love to see wii U with space skins, even painting them..

I hear u bro but i think facias are very specialised and not for everybody, but the option should be there if u want it. My friend got a zelda style cover for his wii and wiimotes, it made me feel very sick and we kinda call him elf nowskins is better for the hardcores... black doesnt make me want it more or less.. For example my new pc case is going to be military green... Getting it this month.. http://www.legitrevi...m/news/13112/
