WI U speile had a post relating to that design, they said it was the original design however there may have been a translation error. Can't someone just find the patent document and read what the deal with the new button is? I would, but I don't have access to a computer right now.
Also, someone mentioned that the NFC heart in the Rayman Legends trailer was put directly on the screen and not next to it. That's because the trailer was an internal concept video, basically saying "Hey, look what we can do with this." They were using an old devkit.

This was back in february
I can't seem to find the original source for the patent, only images are being shared from news blogs

It has a grip.

Honestly, if they will make the controller just as comfortable as GC/X360, this will be the best controller ever (because of added functions).

Looking good! Are pressure sensitive triggers confirmed yet?
nope no one has found anything about that to my knowledge which is a shame cause its an extremely terrible idea to have a controller without those.

Sadly, no. They still look like buttons to me, but I hope that they just go very deep so that they at least feel a bit like triggers. The GC still has the best triggers, so why would they abandon that?

I agree with some people that those buttons are to switch the game from TV to controller.
That's actually pretty genious, yet the most obvious answer. I agree, lol

For racing games they make sense, but for shooters I prefer buttons.

Or switching from Tv to WiiPad view.I have a feeling that square button by the power button is for connecting multiple controllers. Kinda like how you do that with the Wii Mote when you press 1 and 2 at the same time.

Or switching from Tv to WiiPad view.
But what if it's a game that requires both the television and the Wii U controller's screen?Or switching from Tv to WiiPad view.

They still need to change some of the button placements because the prototype looked neater I'm glad they have analog sticks, though. They need to move it a little more in because it is too far out. That's it the start and select are fine in both pictures that is all I really want.

I personally don't like triggers, I play a lot of CoD and I mainly play on PS3, I used to have real tiggers on my ps3 controller, never liked it since the time taken to press the trigger in was slower than just tapping a normal button, especially when you either have a semi automatic or are in a close situation,
For racing games they make sense, but for shooters I prefer buttons.
the triggers on the ps3 are terrible, not to mention the fact that most shooters on the ps3 don't even use the triggers.

I just hope the sticks are clickable...

So then there's no point in shooters then.... The time it takes to press those is far greater than tapping a flat button.^yup. Xbox (360) and GC are good triggers tho.
I just hope the sticks are clickable...
I mainly see triggers for use in shooters and racing games, and for shooters they really aren't the best thing ever when quick presses are needed
