I honestly dont care, but it is a selling point Nintendo needs to think about. Because if they built something like blu ray into the thing, more people would buy it because they wouldn't have to buy a blu ray system to. In the end, I don't really care personally, but some people may :D

To answer your question, no I don't care. I have a DVD player to watch DVDs on. A blu-ray player would be nice, but I'm not fussed either way.

I don't care about it either, I have my computer to do that job. But it would be great if they have it (DVD player or Blu Ray).

I have a computer, a PS2, and a DVD player that can do all that. I don't need it.

I personally don't care but, as Camcam said, it would be a good feature to include as some people will find it more useful than others.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

XD
This is one of the things people ranted over when the Wii was released. Nintendo hadn't put a DVD player in because they felt it wasn't important and that most homes already had a DVD player! They also didn't put it in HD because it was still early technology and they didn't believe enough people had it at the moment to warrant it important.

Oh well. It would have been nice but i'll live. like everyone else here I have so many other capable devices. I intend to set up a lounge room specific media centre PC with a blu-ray player and a projector soon anyway.

I seriously don't care. Everyone's got a DVD player and if they add BluRay the licensing fees might be quite high, so I don't see why they should add it to run the console's price even higher.

Is it certain that WiiU will not play DVDs or BluRay? I am one of those crazy people that do kinda care about this, if only because I like to keep the number of devices I have to keep connected down to a minimum.

Including DVD and/or Blu-ray would up the price by a considerable amount due to extra licensing.

Also, controlling DVD playback with the Wiimote would be really awkward, it could be done with the touch screen I suppose but that is a huge waste of the battery power JUST to control a movie.

Besides, having the Wii U play movies breaks the whole point of it still being available when your parents take over the TV, to watch TV/movies. Not much point being able to play the game on the controller if your parents have to take over the console in order to watch a DVD.

I don't care. I have a PS3 to play the bluray dvds I get and to occasionally play games on. I want the Wii U to be for games and games alone. It would probably drive up costs anyway.
