Eh... NP had a purpose a while back, but it started dying years ago. I think it's better that they cut it now as opposed to let it suffer any longer. Now, if only they did the same thing to the nsider forums (yes, they're still around).

Well, the quality of Nintendo Power kind of lowered over the years. I'm disappointed though, because it was the first magazine that I ever read and subscribed to. I had been reading for about 6 years ago.

The nsider tech support forum is, but last I checked the actual nsider forums were shut down long ago.

I've always heard about Nintendo Power being an awesome magazine. Since I'm Aussie I've never had a chance to read anyone them, but they've been going for 24 years? That's is definitely something a LOT of people are going to miss...

It was an awesome mag, no question, but I'm not surprised.

The best part about N Power was that it was owned by Nintendo, so every now and again, that would be the first mag to release detailed info on the latest big N game, having a multi-page cover on it and some kind of poster. I loved getting them in the mail. It was like Christmas! Plus the strategy guides were great for many players, but I never used 'em. I would always feel like I was cheating when I used one.

Anyway, I think the problem with N Power was... that it was owned by Nintendo. As we all know, the company is very secretive, and isn't too quick to unveil any juicy insider info, which is probably good for the company, but not so fun for the magazine team. Most of the insider stuff I found about Nintendo would be from other gaming mags. All the other mags had some sort of 'rumor' section in it, while Nintendo Power would pretend that you didn't know about all the unofficial news. Eventually, I let my subscription run out and jumped to other mags (GI, Game Pro, and EGM...r.i.p.)

Seems like the hunger for rumors and unofficial news, Which Nintendo Power wasn't able to provide, may have been one of the things that shut em down.
I mean think about how much rumor stuff we talk about in THIS forum...

Is that forum even directly related to Nintendo? it seems to me that it's more like a fan tribute to NSider. After all, if you look at NSider Tech Support forums, they're at techforums.nintendo.com. This forum doesn't even have nintendo in it's URL, nor do I see any link to Nintendo's website on that page. Are you sure this isn't a fan forum?

I had subscribed to NP for 2 years. It was pretty good, and pretty exciting when E3 season rolled around with analysis on a bunch of new games. But after the second year, I decided it really wasn't worth shelling out $20 every year for this kind of news. I liked it a lot, but I just don't think it was that valuable. Most of the things said in it could easily be found online nowadays, so it's purpose is dying out also.

I loved this darn magazine. I might be biased though, as they tend to feature a lot of small time titles instead of consistent big names. This past issue, with the five page Zero Escape: VLR spread and the Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 eight page spread made me really upset.. It was such a good issue for such bad news. The digital age is what I think killed it. Too many have the internet to appreciate physical substance.

Sad but true. I love physical items I can hold..and I far prefer magazines over the net...even though I get most my news from the net ..there's still a different feeling to getting NP....I still think Nintendo has something up their sleeve for this though...it seems odd to just shut it down with still so many subs....maybe they will handle it themselves? maybe there was an issue with Future we don't know about? maybe the Wii U will get it as a digital download title handled by an internal group? I am trying to keep hope.
