I know there are all sorts of places all over the internet with armor suggestions, but I have one that I've never seen mentioned, and only once have I seen someone else in game with it.  I figured it out a few months ago when I found a list of armors in the game, but only in the past week or so have I been able to try it out.  Its an incredibly useful blademaster set, but it does require you to beat hallowed jhen mohran.  The pieces and armor slots are as follows:

Helios Z Helm..........OOO

Y. Koshiate Prime....OOO

Helios Z Arms............O

Helios Z Waist.........OOO

Helios Z legs.............O

Active skill (number of skill points)

Earplugs (hearing +11)

Sharpness+1 (Handicraft+10)

(Water atk +8)

no active negative skills

With 11 armor slots at your disposal you can do almost anything with the right talisman.  My personal favorite set-up is my anti-Jho one with high grade earplugs, sharpness+1, evasion+1, and tremor res, and that's with an evasion+6 charm and no slots on a weapon.  Most people use mostly helios Z with helios X waist, and that is a good set in early G rank, but I implore you to make this set when you get the chance.  You won't regret it.

On a more discussion note, what monster do you guys enjoy fighting the most?  I absolutely love fighting Zinogre with my longsword.  He's the right combination of speed and power that makes the fight a blast.

My faves to fight are the nargas Gigi's and nibbles. Like globules to fishin them out never gets old. I can feed nibbles bombs laugh every time. Giggi just a fun easy fight(though most people disagree). And nargas, don't know just like them.

Guys have you tried to get the Sharpness +1 and Razor Sharp armorset? Guys, if not, do it. NOW.

Basically gives you an enhanced sharpness bar (only way to get to purple sharpness I think) and Razor Sharp, which makes the weapon lose sharpness slower than normal. Seems normal, but believe me, it's the ultimate skillset to have.

There are plenty of weapons that give natural purple sharpness.  Alatreon and dire miralis weapons when fully upgraded are the best example.

Yeah that set is pretty useful, and the chest piece is what makes my above set possible.  Unfortunately I've grown to accustomed to earplugs and HG earplugs, so I only use the hallowed jhen set on monsters that either don't roar and roar very infrequently.  Definitely the best set for dual blades as those things normally eat whetstones.  Whenever I get around to farming regular jhen I intend to use that set with some dual blades and attack up Large gemmed in.  Should be fun.

I've been meaning to dabble in bows more, but the only one I've got fully upgraded is the great kelbi deershot.  If you want to use that make either gigginox X or helios X armor.

What hunter rank are we talking?  I made a list awhile ago of armor sets for myself that I thought were useful.  Might inspire me to make some more bows and armor

I am now at a phase where my Fire, Water and Thunder Hammers are fully upgraded. Just created a set especially for the fights with Grank Lagiacrus. I created IngotX which has natural +15 Thunder defense and +15 Fire attack. Quick sheating too so thats nice to have with the Hammer. Would you advice something else?

I'm looking for a G-Rank armor with +waterattack as natural. Was thinking along the way of the Ludroth armorset. But the only G-Rank Ludroth I can find online is the Purple one...and I think that one focusses more on poison.

Any help? Other water+ would be good too..

Do you mean you can't find any rooms doing royal ludroth, or don't see it in your quest list?  I know there is a quest for it online.

Yeah the royal ludroth armor set looks like a good choice.  Ludroth X and Helios Z afford water atk +2 and +1 respectively.  Those are the only two g rank armors I can find that give water attack up.  Though with helios Z you should switch out the waist for helios X, even though you would have to gem water attack back in.

Whoops sorry bout what I said! It's possible to get to purple without sharpness +1. I had the Revolution myself lol...
But yea the set became really useful after I went the Brazenwall path... Damn was I wrong, but the set saved me.

Holy crap I just attempted to do the quest Awesome Maw and I was slaughtered by over sized Niblesnarf. That thing is terrifying. also, which decoration would I use to get heath up ability?

To increase your maximum health would be, rather straightforward, "Health Jewel".  Should be on page 3 or 4 of the decoration forge list.  I'd recommend just eating before hunts.  The number of stars on the ingredients determines the health boost you get and so you only need 5 stars total to get max health.

It isn't just THAT good. It's take up all your life and leave you no time for any other game good. I've said this before, if you have a WiiU then there's no reason to not have this game. Right now it's one of the best games in the current line up.

I work 50-60 hours a week, and right now i have over 130 hours logged so far.... Some of these other guys in Grank would probably laugh at my 130 hours, yes its that good and will equally P!$$ you off at the same time. Also the game is deep, I mean as deep as your MeMa's you know what....

After playing the demo I really doubted, afyer playing the first couple of hours of the retail version, I still was a bit doubtfull, but then....it happened.

I'm a father, two bratz, fulltime job, own studio for afterhour jobs and indeed clocked over 176 hours now of mh3.

I think its also a love or hate type of game, i've never played one before and i ignored the demo as people said it wasn't a great representation and i just bought the thing and its the best gaming decision i've made in a long time, i'm a mere 60 hours in and the amount of stuff i've not done\don't know about is massive, but it doesn't matter you can play at your own pace, play it how you want and the fact you can play it on the gamepad is even better, i've racked up more hours since that update as i don't always get use of the TV.

Take the plunge and buy it!

As dvl666 said, it is kind of love it or hate it.  Most people who give the game a chance and invest good number of hours before making their decision love it though.  I can't think of a single game with better replay value and multiplayer, while still having strong dynamic gameplay that rewards experience and preparedness.

I suppose the best way to find out if you like it would be to rent it or borrow it from a friend.  Also, should you start it, do some reading.  While the npc's tell you a lot, it won't really click til you have experience.  Looking up videos on youtube, I recommend ProJared or socialdissonance, or asking here or going to the help thread I started (http://thewiiu.com/t...te-help-thread/) as good starting points for information.  Lastly, google is your friend.  If you need to find a material, say iron ore, googling "mh3u iron ore" will give you the answer instantly.  You can also ask miiverse, there's always a number of veterans on hand there to answer questions.

On an unrelated note, I finally got around to making some sword and shields.  They were my secondary weapon back in tri, and it feels good to be using them again.
