Now this is something I had realised when engadget posted the Wii U pictures. I asked my self why they never took a picture of the back but from every other side numerous times and Eurogamer has confirmed that Nintendo is not allowing press to take pictures of the ports at the back for some weird unknown reason.

Optical isn't really a major deal unless you planned on running the audio from the Wii U to a surround sound system. The sound quality out of the HDMI is almost as good as Optical anyways.

Unless you have an external sound card for use with a gaming headset which is a very enthusiast thing to do especially with FPS games like call of duty. That's why I want optical, so that I can use my gaming headsets with it. Otherwise I'll either stick with stereo or buy some converter to extract the audio from HDMI and turn into optical.Optical isn't really a major deal unless you planned on running the audio from the Wii U to a surround sound system. Maybe they still have something up their sleeve. I doubt it, but it is always a possibility.
Never under estimate Nintendo! lol

Okay, if you said they couldn't show the back of the Premium Wii U. what about the Basic white Wii U?
I don't recall seeing pictures of the back of the Wii U in general....hmm...

I assume you mean Stereo out of HDMI is almost as good as real surround over optical?
Seeing as surround out of HDMI is superior to surround out of optical, because its completely uncompressed PCM.

It's a portal to the real Nintendo Land where Reggie will direct you through the park and before you go on a ride he will ask you, is your body ready?
Want. This. Now.
