Go with 7, 8 is designed for tablets not PCs.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

Like with all new open-source technology, I would be quite hesitant and wait for about a year down the line before I would consider purchasing.
But hey, it's a personal decision that I guess can only be influenced.

UPDATE: Decided to get it aye? How are you liking Windows 8?

Dont Listen to any of these guys... Vista is where its at man :P

was going to reply in the status but it was too hard to fit everything in :P basically its not actually that different :) my one and only complaint is that when you close a programme you end up minimizing it not closing it. the way to close them is like 2 seconds longer to do which is really not that much of an issue. other than that i'm actually starting to love it. everything in windows 7 is still there, just some things have been moved and some things you have to learn to use a tiny drop differently but when you do its perfectly fine :) for example, the start button has been removed, but its hardly a problem cos all u need to do is touch one button and it take you to metro, then you just start typing, doesn't matter where your mouse is and it searches the entire computer for what you type, and the entire screen becomes the start menu which is better than the tiny little window in the bottom left. other than that you just need to learn that closing a programme (that you didn't open in desktop) is done by dragging the top of the screen downwards (hard to explain) but that takes two seconds and it works perfectly. to close a programme that you opened on your desktop u just hit x in the top right like normal. so basically, its pretty much exactly the same as windows 7, except it has metro, which is actually only a bonus, not a downside cos its just a bunch of widgets that you choose like news and weather and calender and its just not annoying in anyway cos one of the tabs is desktop which is just like the windows 7 desktop.

I guess I was to late to contribute to the discussion as many know I am a big Windows 8 advocate and have been so since the developer preview.

I've been using it on my desktops for ages, (have the final RTM version for a while), and it works well with keyboard and mouse.

Out of curiosity have ever actually gone to the desktop for anything? I have hardly touched the desktop on a proper desktop machine which I find weird. I just keep using the WinRT apps and hardly any Win32/Desktop programs.

Oh and Xbox music is really blowing my expectations. I have Zune pass (got 6 months free because of nokia) and with the rebranding a lot of the songs that weren't available to stream can be streamed. Also that Xbox music Pass is free unlimited for 6 months and then later free limited (similar to spotify).

Reasons to not get Windows 8
1.There are dramatic and confusing changes to the interface,
2.Simple tasks are more difficult,
3.Modern apps might dumb down the PC,
4.There's not a lot here for desktop PC users,
5.Windows 8 would require every PC user to be retrained.
6.Windows 8 doesn't have a lot of great new features for the enterprise
7.Windows 8 can't natively run older Windows apps
8.Very few enterprise software programs have been rewritten to run as Windows 8 apps
9.Windows 8 is REALLY awkward on older PCs
10.Many companies have only recently upgraded to Windows 7
11.New technologies allow them to run virtual, cloud-based Windows machines thus there's no need to install software on desktop PCs anymore.

You can disable the tablet pc shell and install a third party shell if you want.

I have Windows 8 up and running on my computer... it's insanely fast and runs all my legacy apps! And to those saying it's not good with keyboard and mouse: you're wrong. It's great!
