In a press release earlier this morning, Activision announced that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" has sold over $500 million within it's first 24 hours of release. Five hundred million dollars in 24 hours. Not only does that set records across the board, it smashes their own record set by Modern Warfare 3 at $400 million last year.

“With first day sales of over half a billion dollars worldwide, we believe Call of Duty is the biggest entertainment launch of the year for the fourth year in a row,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO, Activision Blizzard, Inc. “Life-to-date sales for the Call of Duty franchise have exceeded worldwide theatrical box office receipts for “Harry Potter” and “Star Wars,” the two most successful movie franchises of all time. Given the challenged macro-economic environment, we remain cautious about the balance of 2012 and 2013.”

Call of Duty... damn you sell so much. I wonder how much the Wii U version is going to sell day one. Each year the COD franchise breaks it's previously record, this is absolutely craazy.

This is true. I think you were there when I mentioned my 12ish nephew didn't even know what Tetris was, and did poorly at the game. xD
