I thought the Wii U gamepad employed a LCD display. lcd's normally don't burn in as much as an led or oled would

Dudes,
MAKE CERTAIN you are inputting the images SHOWN on YOUR TV and NOT the Gamepad.

I have the same problem. The Nintendo guy said to block the sensor with your hands and stuff..I'm not too sure what to do anymore he told me to send it in too..but that's another how long of a wait? Any one else have any ideas on how to fix it?

kaos2992,

I have the same problem as I just bought the Wii U game pad controller and it won't connect to the console other than just configuring the system. Did the fully charge technique work as I will try it as well.

Please advise, thanks.

Dunk it under water and see if it connects then.

The gamepad connection to the console happened to me twice,.. but it has happened only while playing the Nintendo land game,... apparently there is a software problem so I might imagine another update soon.

I love how clearly heaps of people are having the same issue, myself included.. yet noone seems to have any logical helpful info on how to fix this.. Nintendo at its finest here.

I really don't think there is a solution to this problem except to send it for repair to Nintendo. That's what I had to do.

I set up the WiiU for my son today (Xmas day) and it worked for him whilst he got used to the controller, however to our disappointment the thing is playing up. There are two issues the gamebox will not connect to the console with the warning move closer or the gamebox asks for the four card symbols to be inputed from the TV, however the TV does not show anything just the TV connection point the console is plugged into to.

Can anyone advise us of what we need to do to fix this.

the battery is fully charged.
I have disconnected and turned off the whole system and reset
I have conducted the sync test

Thanks in advance

Some advice in this topic is useless, because posters don;t understand this is NOT sync issue.
I have this fault now and logged support ticket with Nintendo, I will update this thread to post what they told me.
Basically there is message on the game pad:

Could not connect to the Wii U console.

Turn off the wii u gamepad, then turn it on closer to the console.

Sync does not help here, because game pad fails to communicate with console so how do you think it can sync?

It can't, this is the problem.

In other words, your game pad may be not synced with Wii U, but still should be able to communicate, here is the issue it can't communicate, so don't ask people to look at the TV icons and tap them on gamepad screen, waste of time.

Ok, I will let you know how it goes with me once receive response from them, but to me it looks like some software conflict / issue.

I hate being the guy that bumps topics but I had this same problem and believe I've found a fix.

For clarification:

When I booted up my console for the first time I followed the prompts as they came up, eventually leading up to typing the on screen symbols. I would type them in only to get an error message that my Wii U tablet could not connect so I tried and tried again to no avail.

In a last ditch effort I unplugged the Wii sensor bar that I had plugged into my Wii U from my older Wii and, to my surprise, it fixed the problem and I can now play the Wii U.

tl;dr

Try unplugging your sensor bar if you have one.

i figured out how to fix this problem

1.turn off both the gamepad and console

2.unplug console

3.hold the power button on the console for 10 secs.

4.plug the console back in

5.turn the system on using the gamepad, at first it will say the gamepad is not connected then shortly after it will register the device.

ive used these steps twice now and they actually work!

I'm hearing about a few problems with the GamePad, one that stands out the most is a dude on the IGN forums who had the image of the last game that he played burnt into the screen, kinda like the problems consoles have with plasma screen TV's

This junk just happened to me, oddly & luckily this advice from an above poster did the trick!

I hope I NEVER have this problem again.

1.turn off both the gamepad and console

2.unplug console

3.hold the power button on the console for 10 secs.

4.plug the console back in

5.turn the system on using the gamepad, at first it will say the gamepad is not connected then shortly after it will register the device.
