What's your opinion on New Super Mario Brothers U? Does it successfully blend classic elements with new elements? Is the game challenging and fun enough to make you want to keep playing? Does it feel lazily slopped together, or carefully and creatively crafted? Is it another masterpiece like Super Mario World, or another disappointment like New Super Mario Brothers 2?

From what I've seen (I've seen videos apart from trailers, like exclusive videos and walkthroughs) it really looks like the best 2D Mario game since SMW, but that's mostly because of the tons of SMW references and the brilliant leveldesign. It's not really groundbreaking obviously. I've seen them re-using NSMBU elements like giant cogs, but they are used in a way better way than in the original game. Same goes for 'boats' which can hold a limited amount of enemies, but this time it might be a bit different. Overall, the game seems much better than all previous NSMB games though.

It even looks good enough to call it 'NSMW', but I still wonder why the actual f#ck Nintendo didn't. I mean, what's going on in their minds, lol? Anyway this game is a must-buy because Baby Yoshis. 'Nuff said.

I wouldn't call this the best mario since SMW .... howeverI think this blows its predecessors away...as in nsmb wii and nsmb 2

I also have two substantial facts for why I said what I said.

1) Basically everyone I've asked how they found Super Mario Galaxy 2 has said it's platforming perfection.
2) Gamerankings has both Galaxies in it's top three rated games of all time, the first being the first game which recently eclipsed Ocarina of Time for that spot. You simply do not do that with a craptasm.

Also, those SMG soundtracks. OH GOD DAMN!

+1, both amazing. Best 3D platformers ever. But to me 2D and 3D games stand apart. I think NSMBU will be the best 2D since SMW.

I haven't gotten to play it yet (played Nintendo Land all last night lol) but just from the looks of things, it may not be the best Mario game since Super Mario World, but I'd think it's the best 2D Mario since Super Mario World just on first impressions. We'll see though.

Overall, I think it is. The problem is that it's so much like NSMBWii. But I think that if I cloned myself, and each clone played a 2D Mario game past the time of SMW, NSMBU would probably get the highest rating.

Not even close.

NSMBU is a good game, but it has so many flaws that prevent it from being a perfect game. Super Mario Galaxy 2 though is definitely the best Mario game since SMW. I never got tired of playing SMG2 and enjoyed the refreshing atmosphere and creative boss battles. SMG2 probably also has one of the best soundtracks in a video game.

NSMBU will just be remember as another Mario game, nothing special.

NSMBU is definitely the best NSMB game Nintendo has made since the DS one.

It has the potential to be one of the best 2D Mario platformers.
