I typically just merge or lock dupe threads, If the users report them that's great.  Your warning point was due to backseat moderation.

Gamejunkie's post in there is pretty much what I did. There are many other examples from many other users but this was one on the first page.

 

Btw im not trying to cause trouble or anything, I just want to know if we should start reporting people for doing this sort of thing because people have always been doing it since I joined, but it was only until i was given a warning about it that i found out it is against the rules. I even mailed feld0 to speak about it but he never replied.

If you want to, you can.  In my opinion it is a bit helpful, after it is reported that is, if there is a link to the original topics (but they can also be posted in the report).
