I'm a Health & Physical Education Teacher for a K-5 Elementary School and have been at it for 6 years.
I also coach Cross-Country at the High School and Track & Field at the Middle School.
I'm currently pursuing my Masters in HPE at Jacksonville State University and it should give me a 5,000 raise as soon as I finish it in December 2013 :-)
How bout you guys, anybody working out there or are you still getting your education, if so, what are you planning on going into?

Ultimate goal is to attain a Masters and teach in Korea, Japan, Malaysia, etc. and gather experience so I may work with under-privileged, delinquent and at risk students here in the states.
One of my favorite teachers in school was my Health instructor.. she would always have us these Friday talks about social issues (homosexuality and it's acceptance, weight, etc.). She helped broadened my view and insight on personal health and all it can effect. So it always peeves me when someone says that Health and Physical Education Teachers are the lowest of teachers (and by default, have the easiest jobs).
Glad to see you pursuing it and I hope you enjoy it!

Have a degree in Information Technology, but it really bored me so I decided to take over the family business. I'm a landscaper and own a Farmers Market. Also opening a comic book store next fall.
I'd love to own a comic store! I'd sit and read Saga all day.

I was a programmer and web developer for 7 years, but it was boring.
The only times it felt like fun was the deadline night when I'd be rushing to finish up.
Now I do PC Repair, not knocking it but I love the simplicity.

Yeah, it was horrible. I do PC Repair on the side, and its one of those things that..doing it part time on the side..more as a hobby, makes it far more enjoyable for me. The days of sitting in a cubicle for 12 hours a day...long gone.

Closest I came was doing data entry, in a small office room with another guy.
Maybe I just like mindless tasks.

No benefits, but I get treated better and paid more there than when I worked at Wal-Mart.

lol, I've heard that before from somewhere, can't remember. I would love to see someone thrown in to my gym and have 80 students file in and they keep order and develop a successful lesson, it would be a disaster. The thing is, I get paid the same as a classroom teacher except im not miserable and grumpy like 80% of them lol. Best job in the world. After my masters I'll get paid 50K+ and have a heckova lot of time off to spend with the family, and that in itself is worth a ton, I only work 180 days a year!

Trust me goku, It's not just in the UK, It's most places. It was very difficult to get a job out of college because all the jobs in IT wanted like 6-8 years of experience. I ended up doing tech support for 3 years then said the hell With it.My job is looking for a job, things are bad here in the UK at least where I live, Degree's and certificates mean nothing here at all trust me I got loads but they don't help in any way.

I bet the PE teacher at that school really appreciated he comment, lol. There are a few PE teachers out there that suck, i.e. the ones who "roll the ball out"
