It's a joke about the Mayan Apocalypse. Australia and New Zealand are in another time zone, and are one day ahead of the rest of the world as a result.

December 21, 2012 was predicted to be the end of the world. It's December 21, 2012 in Australia and New Zealand, hence they are dead.

Well, except for the fact that the Mayan Calendar or whatever was based in the Central Time Zone of the US, so everyone still has some time to go before it's confirmed/busted.

It doesn't help that the Mayan's would have predicted the apocalypse in their time zone if they had.

Apparently they didn't account for the extra day in leap years though so technically the Mayan calendar has already finished.

I'm reading conflicting reports on this actually. Some say it did, others say it didn't.

We aren't making fun of them. We are making fun of the world ending on the 21st and the fact that it is the 21st on the other side of the world.

The concept of leap-years is irrelevant to the Mayan calendar system, because it's not based on solar years, it's based on pure math.

I'm not going to die. Purely because I don't care about the outside world. So the explosion will completely ignore me. (It's been confirmed that the world will end in an explosion) Half the world already died from an explosion that's all the conformation I need.
