Who cares? Why are they getting so much attention? All their doing is following their crazy religion 100% by the word of their bible, while you got some other people complaining about it and telling everyone that according to their god homosexuality is fine, when in reality it's the opposite. They protest at military funerals, and are going to protest at the funerals of the sandy hook massacre victims.

They are not a church- they're just a hate group using the church merely as a front to attempt to force their opinions down people's throats.

I'm hoping that people don't automatically assume that the Westboro Christian group represents or at all symbolises how the average Christian church is like.

Technically, no, as Levitacus is in the old testament, which was directed at the Jews. All the laws in the old testament were basically overridden by Jesus and the new testament.
Whenever people use the term of homosexuality today in reference to the new testament, they fail to understand that the word didn't exist back then. Going back to Greek translations, it gets vague and rather than condemning homosexuality, it can be interpreted that it condemns feminine men for being weak or lazy.
It's not so much nitpicking the bible, as it is the translators who wanted to enforce their own homophobia and etc... This becomes ironic, as the westboro church is following the words of a translator as opposed to any god or the original author. Plus never did Jesus or the letters mention homosexuality at all.
Even though I am an atheist and as much as I hate the Bible for being so dry and boring, I do some research now and again. There is a wealth of information online regarding the topic of homosexuality in the bible and the ideas lost/added due to translation.

WOAH buddy we put them on a pedestal because they defend our country and do things others are afraid to do and they sacrifice themselves, My grandpa almost died saving some vietnamese school children from the Viet Cong, I'm sorry if this offends you but honestly I put soldiers that sacrifice their lives for us and others on THE HIGHEST pedastal, i'm going into the air force as well because i have the urge to protect people ......no hard feelings
