Then there is something wrong with your Internet and not your consoles. To download 1GB on my PS3 or Xbox takes about 10-15 minutes which is approximately four to five times faster then the Wii U on the same connection.

Ok sure, is your connection the holy grail of connections? Like I said the Wii U has downloaded the large day one update and demos twice as fast as PS3/360.

Maybe because Nintendo Network doesn't have as much players yet as PSN or Xbox Live that could be the reason I get no lag, not sure.

Mine took 30 mins to download, 45 mins with all the game updates, I was very surprised and happy

I didn't get mine at launch so Nintendo's servers wouldn't have been very full and my internet is fast enough (usually).

I did mine Like 15 mins after the midnight launch and it took like 35 mins and our internet here on aus is sh1thouse.

It took me around 2 and a half hours but my internet is crap.

Wasn't it that before you update you should select cancel so the update will download in the background so you would reduce the chance of your WiiU turning into a brick.
