Shin’en praises Wii U dev environment

Shin’en’s Manfred Linzner talked up the Wii U hardware in an interview with GamesTM this month.
First, Linzner noted that the console’s development environment allowed the studio to easily create a game – Nano Assault Neo – in a short amount of time:
“The Wii U development environment allowed us to go from zero to a great, polished game in only half a year. I think we never ever got so far so fast on a new hardware, and we’ve worked on a lot of platforms in the past decades.”
Linzner went on to compliment Wii U’s overall technology. Although the studio’s game is rendered on both the television and GamePad, “even then we were still able to maintain solid 60FPS without much effort on both displays.” Linzner also said that the Wii U’s large memory allowed for complete caching and practically eliminated load times:
“We decided to add a local two-player mode where one player uses the TV and the other one the Wii U GamePad. That meant the complete game world would need to be rendered twice for the Wii U GamePad display. That nearly doubled the burden on the GPU and CPU, but even then we were still able to maintain solid 60FPS without much effort on both displays. Then on top we even added camera streaming, so that the TV player can see the face of the Wii U GamePad player, which adds a lot of fun. We expected the additional camera encoding and streaming would add noticeable strain on the Wii U, but it was almost free. All this proved the system is very well balanced and allows developers without much effort, to use all the unique features. Another benefit of the Wii U is that the system memory is so large that we never have to load an asset again. Everything can be cached and load times are almost gone.”

These devs and gamers alike need to understand... The gaming community more core gamwrs aren't gonna let up on this console until they see something beyond this gen or at least comparable to the best.
Even thats not enough. Nanostray neo destroys anything on psnetwork or 360 arcade, it makes super stardust hd look like a tiny simplistic terd in comparison.
It will never be enough.
The gamecube pounded the ps2, yet even after the primes, twilight princess, even re4, Even re4, which had less enemies, lower poly enemies, no real time lighting, no bump mapping, lower res textures less texture layers, entire sections of background geometry removed and cutscenes videos of the cubes real time cutscenes...
It wasnt enough. You tube side by sides showing the glaring shortcomings were littered with comments on how the 'different' lighting was proof the ps2 was more powerful.
It will never be enough.

Yeah but I'm talking AAA releases big budget games. We need to see something amazing graphically soon from the Wii U we know E3 next box will be shown and ps4 I betting on a (real time sony will claim) demo of some gaming running on the hardware.
Their goal will be to make Wii U look as inferior as possible.

we went in, did little more than coppy paste, update the featurs without much trouble.
with xbox they spent years optimizing to run then came to this and spent so much less time for the same effect.
so games should be fine.

I understand you both, and agree in some ways with both too.

thats the fanboy goal. but very recent roumer is xbox upgraded GPU to dwarf PS4(unlikly since the GPU came out about 2 months ago) only benefit if this is legit is to push sony out of the market.
both nintendo and microsoft are almost garnteed to survive the generation. the 2 new competetors are also more likly to compete directly with xbox alot more than nintendo.
nintendo and for 3rdparty will likly show some great looking games at E3. till then the earliest direct wiiU showoff will be alians.

Hope? It has nothing to do with hope.
Retro studios (Metroid Prime)
Nintendo ead (Zelda, Mario Galaxy)
Monolith soft (Xenoblade)
Have all been confirmed by nintendo to be deep in progress on wii u games, under strict nda. Not a single screen has been leaked, ANYWHERE. Thats a trump card if ever ive seen one.

Well, this is a reason, i mean, they're hiding for some reason, and i think is to show that they can put some good graphics too

i saw teh kennekt2.0 video. the xbox 720 was playing halo1 but on the screen(distracting from the face its halo1). this was a little after the upgraded GPU leak. this made me think that the new kennekt on xbox uses alot of power, and the new GPU was needed to run good looking games on kennekt. which makes it alot more likly taht xbox 720 games will look well below what the tech is capable of because of kennekt, placing them ruffly middle consul powerwise between wiiU and PS4. but PS4 is likly to die off with sony possibly going bankrupte.

Do these guys only make arcade style games like the nano?
Under the name shin en, yes. They only release arcade style games with lots of eye candy. Shmups, racers, golf games, physics puzzlers....
But they do lots more. They write software optimizations for many third parties for ps360, as well as optimization for many of the worlds most powerful super computers for neon.
