Don't get too optimistic. Not bashing the Wii U, but its pretty clear that the PS4 is at least 3x more powerful. Still, more than enough for me considering the 20x power gap between Wii and PS3 and 360.

Exactly.  How that translates into gameplay is anyone's guess at this point, though we know that it won't be very drastic at all, it still doesn't take away the PS4's best performer crown.

I have no idea.  Then again, because their design strategy doesn't focus on raw power, it wouldn't be in their best interest to do that.

If they did, like MS and Sony are now, than we would have hardware marketing war. Like Sega vs NES/SNES. Sony would say we have this gflops, Nintendo have that gflops, we are 3-6-8x better and only 2x more expensive, and stuff. Average consumer would be sold by that kind of marketing. The only thing Sony went 8GB route is because we know M$ wanted 8GB in their system. It would be funny to see M$ going for more RAM just to show off.

Now, we have PS4 can do this, but Wii U also can do it too.

Because it looks like it'd be too complex to explain how the Wii U running at a low clock can perform so well. It'd be easier to show people a visual example, or have a piece of demo software running on Unreal 4 or something like that. It's a simple and easier way to explain specs rather than raw numbers.

People understand pretty looking realistic visuals as being better more than GFLOPS and Mhz and Gigawatts. The media also understand simple terms like Unreal 4 as it's a "next gen engine" to prove what the Wii U is capable of. These would be simple ways of getting the point across.

They kidna did that with the Zen Garden and Zelda demo, but the Zelda demo at least looked easily repeatable on a PS3 or 360. The Zen garden looked slightly more impressive however I would have at least tried to get Unreal 4 powering the demo  just because it's a buzzword the media can pick up on!

Honestly I don't think they really know exactly what the specs are.

Well I don't really understand all this lingo either, but from what I've read and gathered is that the Wii-U's processor is better than the Xbox 360 and PS3's therefore allowing games on the Wii-U to look something similar to what I've been playing over the years on the 360 but slightly better? It seems I may have made the right choice then.

Today's games have pleased me, my favorite games (graphics wise) would be the Call of Duty series, the graphics are so crisp! A good example of what I think are pretty subpar graphics would be console renditions of Battlefield 3, yikes. Good game though....well before they screwed it up with patches and stuff

With that said, I'm going to thoroughly enjoy the Wii-U, if I feel today's current gen games are great than I can only come to the conclusion that I've officially surpassed that "must have best graphics ever" way of thinking and now thinking I "must find the most enjoyment ever", the way games were originally meant to be

The WiiU has a customized GPU and CPU so nobody on forums knows what the full spec is or how well this translates to game/graphics power. People keep quoting specs from the standard versions of the chips which is going to be lower numbers than whats in the WiiU.

All i hear from stupid people that don't want to listen is that the WiiU is the same gen as ps360 and its already dead.UTTER RUBBISH!

When your competitors are still tweaking there console and you need them to be close to you, it would be best to keep the specs close to your chest.

You don't think that Sony & MS have gone out & got some WiiU's & were reverse engineering the day after release ?

When average consumer buys a car, they dont ask what materials are used to make the car... They see the car, try it, buy it if they like it.

Same is with the consoles. I dont think M$ will go into details with their system too. Sony can do that and Sony's interest is to do that because of their audience, and myths about Sony's power.

The fact is, only small percentage of consumers really care about specs. What people call "core gamers" are not more that 10% of all gamers, and large percentage of core gamers are mainly PC gamers.

Wii U is one solid piece of hardware, it just needs software and marketing. I think that Wii U is more appealing to core gamers than Wii was, it is the best balanced machine to date, and have the most comfortable controller ever created... People just need some software that they can play on it.

When X, Mario, Metroid and Bayonetta 2 come out, spike in sales will be huge.

Actually, most people research the car. Engine type, number of cylinders, horsepower, torque, how many liters (cubic inch displacement), exhaust type, etc.

Same with consoles.

It's all about potential. When you buy high performance hardware, you have peace of mind knowing that your hardware won't be a limiting factor in your gaming enjoyment. With weak hardware, you may still get a fun game but it will be sub par in other areas such as graphics, that would have really changed the e perience.

But Nintendo thinks different. They don't want to focus on specs, though they obviously worked very hard in putting together a high performance machine.

They want to be the place you go to just enjoy. Like willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Without all the technical difficulties. Lol

If Sony was, and trying to out do Nintendo, they failed. The PS4 specs are not that much more powerful.

Perhaps not, although 8gigs of ram is a seller, but sony blufs better.
After all the negative news articles about slow Wii U cpu and not being next-gen, i wish Iwata or Reggie showed us some more nextgen WOW gameplay and made some smartass remarks like 'this not nextgen? r u serrious?' and also tells how strong the wii u is, slightly revealing something more what's under the hood.
