Why won't Nintendo do a Pokemon Console game?

I mean a Pokemon RPG game.
Basically like The portable game versions, but on the console and in HD!
I am not bashing Nintendo at all, so I dunno their reasons and what not.
But doesn't the idea of being able to walk around in a HUGE game world full of pokemon and characters?
Basically like Skyrim but Pokemon.
Even online play!
Maybe it's too advance to do something like this yet?
I just know rumors always get around about a game like this and I would like to see it realized one day!
Nintendo holds the rights to Pokemon so they can only make the games.
If Microsoft could do it, then let them... Maybe.... Microsoft might mess it up.

Nowadays, with online and all, I suppose it's very possible a mainline game can work on consoles. It would just require more resources as I'd imagine the game would be huge (though it doesn't have to). Game Freak is also a pretty small team I believe, so they'd require additional support. The fact that the portable versions sell so well and are probably easier to make, make designing a mainline game on the console an unattractive decision I think

I've heard this before, you're looking at it the wrong way. The whole 'Pocket Monsters' thing is in reference to the Pokemon story itself not the platform it is for. In Pokemon the pokeballs fit in the trainer's pocket/are pocket sized, hence them being called Pocket Monsters.Pokemon = Pocket Monsters
Good luck fitting a Wii U in your pocket

i agree, I mean, 90% of the people I know bought DS's JUST for Pokemon. My school is nuts for Pokemon, no idea how or why, but literally everyone plays it, even the teachers. If this were to happen everyone in my school would get a wii u.A full blown Pokemon RPG on consoles would make wayyyyyyyyyyy more money than it would cost, it would literally sell thousands and thousands of Wii Us just to people buying it for pokemon, who would then buy other games and so on. It would single-handedly save the Wii U. Don't give me this "want it stay portable" carp, why should it stay portable? It would work perfect on a console and its just lazyness holding it back IMO.
I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect

Really? I thought it refferenced to the fact that well, the game is on a portable (pocket) platform.
